Thank you Bernadette for attending our C-PASS 2026 Conference. Hope to see you again next year!
East Greenbush Police Department

We were glad to have Bernadette Ellis of the East Greenbush Police Department with us at the C-PASS Conference — Committee on Policing and Safeguarding Schools. Bernadette, who is currently serving as a School Resource Officer at Columbia High School, spoke about the importance of school safety and reunification planning. Reunification is the structured process schools use after an emergency to safely return students to their parents or guardians. Instead of parents rushing to the school, students are moved to a designated reunification site where law enforcement and school staff verify identities and release students in a controlled, secure way.

“As a mom myself, I think it’s really important to have safety in schools and reunification, and really have everyone prepared for what could happen, how to handle it, and where to go from there.”

C-PASS supports School Resource Officers, educators, and law enforcement leaders through collaboration, training, and shared resources focused on school safety.

Congrats Addie Oneida County Sheriff's Office

Please join us in congratulating Addie on earning her certification as a Therapy Dog! 🐾💛

Addie has successfully completed her training and is now certified through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs a program whose mission is “Sharing Smiles and Joy.” This achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and heart behind her journey.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the incredible support of Nevani Goldens, Adirondack Bank, Amarok Kennels LLC, Deborah Nicotera, and the many members of our community who continue to encourage and support Addie.

If you see Addie out and about in the community alongside Investigator Constantine, be sure to say hello as they continue sharing comfort, compassion, and plenty of smiles!

C PASS 2026 is a wrap.

Thank you to everyone who joined us February 17 to 19 for three full days of collaboration, learning, and practical school safety strategies.

On our final day, attendees heard from John Callery during the morning general session, followed by Dr. Carol Vidal, who brought valuable insight and perspective to the important work of safeguarding schools. We closed the conference with final remarks and a renewed commitment to partnership across education, law enforcement, and community stakeholders.

From keynote sessions and panel discussions to sponsor presentations and networking opportunities, this year’s conference delivered meaningful content and real world tools that can be implemented immediately.

If you missed any part of it, check back soon. We will be sharing videos, session highlights, and key takeaways from our speakers in the coming weeks so you can bring this information back to your team.

Thank you to our presenters, sponsors, and attendees for making C PASS 2026 a success.
