🛒 Confused by "sell by," "best by," and "use by" labels? You're not alone.

New York is poised to standardize food date labels, a commonsense change that could help families save money on groceries while reducing unnecessary food waste.

EANY’s Claire Walsh Winsler told Syracuse.com, confusing labels have long driven higher grocery bills and perfectly good food into the trash. Standardizing them is a win for consumers, communities, and the climate. 🌎

🥕 Another common-sense win is headed to Governor Hochul's desk.

The Food Date Labeling Act will simplify confusing food labels by limiting them to just two phrases: “Best if Used By” and “Use By.” Clearer labels mean less perfectly good food gets thrown away, helping families save money while keeping food waste out of landfills.

Reducing food waste also means reducing methane emissions, one of the most powerful climate pollutants. Now it's time for Governor Hochul to sign this smart, climate-friendly legislation into law.

💧 Clean drinking water shouldn't depend on what happens in Washington.

Legislation to protect New Yorkers from toxic PFAS "forever chemicals" is now headed to Governor Hochul's desk.

This bill would lock in strong drinking water protections and prevent federal rollbacks from putting New Yorkers at greater risk of exposure to these dangerous contaminants. PFAS have been linked to serious health impacts, including cancer and pregnancy complications.

☀️ A big win for energy affordability and clean power access! The SUNNY Act is headed to Governor Hochul's desk, bringing New York one step closer to making plug-in balcony solar legal for tenants and homeowners.

These simple solar systems can cut electricity bills by an estimated 10–25%, helping more New Yorkers save money while generating clean energy right from home.

Now it's time for Governor Hochul to sign the SUNNY Act into law.
