Affordable housing doesn’t happen without people who believe everyone deserves a place to call home. 🌻

For MANY years, Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP has been a generous supporter and dedicated partner of HATAS.

Their work helps make affordable housing possible for individuals and families who need it most.

We’re proud to recognize Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP as a 2026 HATAS Champion in Compassion.

Celebrate with us at this year's Sunflower Breakfast on September 24. 🌻

An elderly woman in our community had spent three days sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

When one of our community partners learned what was happening, they reached out to HATAS to ask if the Capital Region Furniture Bank could help.

The response from our team?

“We can take care of this today.”

Less than an hour later, our crew was on its way with a new bed.

This is why the Furniture Bank exists. Not just to deliver furniture, but to respond when someone in our community needs dignity, comfort and a safe place to rest. 💛

This is what community looks like. 🧡

At our latest SYNC event, organizations from across Albany came together with one goal: making it easier for our neighbors to find the support they need.

Resources shared. Connections made. Partners working side by side.

Thank you to every organization that continues to show up and make SYNC possible.

An unused wing of the Albany County Jail could have stayed exactly that, unused.

Instead, Sheriff Craig Apple saw an opportunity.

Through the Sheriff’s Homeless Improvement Program (SHIP), the space became a safe place for people experiencing homelessness to stay while working toward employment and permanent housing.

Sometimes innovation is simply looking at what you already have and asking how it could better serve your community.

This September, we’re proud to recognize Sheriff Craig Apple and SHIP as a 2026 HATAS Champion in Compassion. 🌻

What people see: someone receiving the keys to a new home.

What they don't see: everything that happened before that moment.

The phone calls.
The applications.
The appointments.
The barriers overcome.
The people who kept showing up.

That's what HATAS does every day, not just helping people find housing, but walking beside them until stability becomes possible. 🧡

Leaving incarceration is only the first step.

Finding a safe place to live. Securing employment. Accessing treatment. Rebuilding stability. That's where the real work begins.

Through HATAS' Next Step Rapid Re-Housing Program, people leaving incarceration receive the housing and support they need to move forward.

And it works. Within two years, more than 85% of participants are living in stable housing and supporting themselves with a steady income. 🧡

🌻 Some leaders don't just respond to challenges, they fight to change the systems that create them.

We're proud to recognize Pascale Leone, Executive Director of the The Supportive Housing Network of New York, as one of our 2026 Champions in Compassion.

Real change doesn't happen overnight.
It happens because people like Pascale are willing to speak up, challenge the status quo, and keep pushing until more people have a safe, stable place to call home.

That's the kind of leadership she brings to New York every day.

The impact of Pascale's work extends far beyond HATAS.
Her advocacy is strengthening organizations across New York and helping create a future where more people can access the housing and support they need.

We're honored to recognize her as one of our 2026 Champions in Compassion at this year's Sunflower Breakfast.

Earlier this month at our SYNC outreach event, service providers from across Albany came together to meet people where they are—offering resources, answering questions, and connecting neighbors to the support they need.

Here's what that looked like:
🧡 Multiple individuals were connected with services.
🧡 People returned to share progress since previous events.
🧡 Providers worked together to solve problems in real time.

Thank you to everyone who showed up.
