From October 9 through November 1, grab a Regal Movie Ticket Bundle (2 movie tickets for $30), and $7.50 from every bundle goes directly to Stability Through Advocacy (STAY).

Your purchase helps us meet people where they are and remove the barriers that stand between them and stability: things like replacing an ID, getting to an appointment, or keeping a phone charged so a landlord or caseworker can reach them.

Treat yourself, gift a date night, or stock up for the holidays, and help a neighbor stay housed while you're at it.

“Healthy communities are built when people have the support they need to navigate life's challenges and access opportunities to thrive,” said Augusta Martin, Chief Revenue Officer at MVP Health Care. “Organizations like STAY are helping close critical gaps by meeting people where they are, removing barriers to care and stability, and creating meaningful connections that can change lives. MVP is proud to support this important work and invest in community-driven solutions that strengthen health, well-being, and opportunity across the Capital Region.”

Since launching services in March, Stability Through Advocacy, Inc. has served more than 70 community members, distributed 55+ Stability Starter Kits, helped prevent four evictions, and supported six emergency-shelter connections and one move into permanent housing.

Our six-month update shares how STAY is building community-based support across the Capital Region—and what we’re working toward next.

STAY Insights | Our first post

Are people really “hard to reach”—or are our systems hard to access?

I’ve heard “hard to reach” used when someone misses an appointment, doesn’t answer, or can’t complete a referral. This first STAY Insight asks us to look at the barriers around that person, too.

What have you seen make support easier—or harder—to access? I’d love to hear from people navigating services, providing them, and working alongside the community.

Over the past seven years of doing community-based work, I've heard the phrase "hard to reach" more times than I can count. It is often used to describe people experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, substance use, housing instability, or other complex barriers. 🎉 We have exciting news to share!

STAY’s Community Stability Navigation project has been accepted into the local Continuum of Care competition ranking.

This is a meaningful milestone for our growing organization and for the community-based work behind this project. Community Stability Navigation was developed in response to the barriers we see every day as people try to reach services, communicate with providers, arrange transportation, and take the next step toward housing stability.

This advancement is not yet a funding award, but it moves our project forward in the process. We look forward to seeing HUD’s award list when it becomes available.

As STAY continues building supportive services, our position remains clear: permanent housing must remain the goal.

This week marked six months of operations for Stability Through Advocacy, Inc. When STAY was created, we set out to prevent and respond to housing instability through low-barrier, person-centered navigation, advocacy, and practical support.

In six months, we’ve served more than 70 community members, helped prevent 4 evictions, made 6 emergency shelter connections, supported 1 permanent housing connection and 2 behavioral health connections, and distributed 55+ Stability Starter Kits.

We’ve also submitted at least 50 applications and referrals across housing, public benefits, and social care; helped people access basic needs, household furniture, and a phone with service; provided 10 device charging sessions; and helped a neighbor connect to SNAP and receive approval in under 24 business hours. More than 1,000 volunteer hours and the support of 4+ community partners have helped make this work possible.

We’re proud of what this community has accomplished—and we’re looking for more people to be part of what comes next.
