HB 47a (the 80/20 bill) passed the House!
HB 47a has officially passed the House unanimously on third reading, a huge win for Prek-12 educators across New Mexico. This landmark step forward moves school employee health insurance to an 80/20 cost sharing model, bringing long overdue equity to our educators.
The bill now heads to the Senate to continue its journey, carrying strong momentum and overwhelming support.

Today NEA NM Interim Executive Director Chad Johnson, GR Charles Goodmacher, and I had the opportunity to meet with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. We talked about legislative priorities, the importance of getting 80/20 passed this year, community schools, literacy, and Read Across NM. Now it’s time to amplify our voices and be heard. Looking forward to having so many members lobbying at the roundhouse next week!
