This is a reminder that Irby Elementary Spirit Night is this Friday, August 28th from 5:30–7:30 PM at Skate Station Funworks! 🎉🛼Please see the attached flyer.

We’re teaming up with our sister school, Alachua Elementary, for a big night of fun!

Bring the family out for skating, mini golf, rock climbing, soft play, Jumpworks, go-karts, and more. A portion of each admission will also be donated back to our schools.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing Irby families, students, teachers, staff, and volunteers who stopped by to visit us during Meet the Teacher today! 💙💛

We loved meeting so many new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, and sharing all the exciting things our PTA has planned for the 2026–2027 school year. Your enthusiasm, support, and willingness to get involved mean so much to us!

Our new family tours went great! We had over 20 families join us for a sneak peak at the school. While touring, a young mom spotted a volunteer who is a retired Irby teacher…HER teacher from when she was at Irby!

My name is Jenny McGovern, and I am honored and excited to serve as the new President of the Irby Elementary PTA!

As both a parent and a member of our amazing school community, I believe that when families, teachers, staff, and students work together, incredible things happen. My goal this year is to help create meaningful opportunities for our Irby Eagles to learn, grow, celebrate, and make lasting memories—all while supporting our school's S.O.A.R. values:
Safety First,
Own Your Learning,
Act Responsibly, and
Respect Others.

🎪 New Family Campus Tours

If you are new to Irby, we invite you to join us for a campus tour at 1:00 PM on August 6.

Our tours will help new families become familiar with the campus before the first day of school. If you plan to attend, please let us know by completing this short survey:

This weeks has been one for the books….quite on point with the theme! We do our best to make sure that the teachers/staff feel very appreciated all the time, but this week especially!

Monday - thank you Texas Roadhouse for the yummy lunch
Tuesday - (Walking) Taco Tuesday, frozen lemonade, and build your own bouquet bar
Wednesday - Cafe Irby was open for business. We had cookies, pastries, coffee, and books! Thank you Scott Lange (Annette Ayres Lange) for building the staff their own lending library. The teachers enjoyed decorating it today!

Thank you Kookaburra for donating coffee and Taryn Rhodes with Watson Realty Corp. for donating books.

Thank you to all who donated books, ordered on Amazon, or made donations online. We appreciate each of you!

We are excited to celebrate Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week from May 4–9 with a fun, book-themed week to honor our incredible teachers and staff!

“Teachers are like good books…they can change you forever.”

Attached you will find a flyer along with a document that you can print and have your child fill out.

We invite students and families to participate each day with small gestures of appreciation:

📅 Monday – “Dragons (and Teachers) Love Tacos”
Students: Write a favorite memory with your teacher or send in their favorite snack

🌸 Tuesday – “Chrysanthemum”
Students: Draw, pick, or bring in a flower or plant

📚 Wednesday – “Pete the Cat Checks Out the Library”
Students: Bring in your teacher’s favorite drink or a gift card

📝 Thursday – “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
Students: Write your teacher a note sharing why you are thankful for them

🎨 Friday – “A Bad Case of the Stripes”
Students: Wear stripes or your teacher’s favorite color

📖 Book Donation Drive
We are collecting new or gently used adult and children’s books.
Please drop off donations in the labeled bins outside by May 2nd.

REMINDER: Today was the last day to order your child’s art through Original Works, but they have extended our deadline to 4/24!! Don’t delay and get your kiddos artwork on a mug (my favorite), keychain, wind chime, etc.

Artwork will be shipped to the school and sent home with your child.
