The Russell County Farm City committee has a new contest this year! Nominations are now open for the Farm Family of the Year. If you are a resident of Russell County and you farm, or if you know someone to nominate, you are invited to enter. Whether you are a row crop farmer, livestock, bees, etc, we welcome your entry.

Our Farm Family of the Year will be awarded at the annual Farm City reception on November 19th, 2026 @ 4:30 p.m. Eastern at the Central Community Center in Phenix City. Follow link to application:

Since 1978, the Annual East Alabama Crops Tour has evolved to deliver timely, relevant information. This year’s tour showcases cotton and peanut variety trials highlighting new releases, plus updates on pest and nutrient management.

The State Women’s Leadership Committee for Region Four hosted a regional meeting in Union Springs on Thursday evening.

A special thank you to our hosts, Vickie Watkins and Melissa Palmer, for organizing a wonderful event. Our guest speaker, Shelby Easterling, delivered an engaging and timely presentation on “ How to Effectively Share Your Story on Social Media”. She provided valuable insights into various platforms and apps, while encouraging thoughtful discussion around the “how” and “why” behind our online presence.

Attendees also had the opportunity to share standout projects from their respective counties, highlighting the great work being done across the region. The evening concluded with a delicious dinner provided by FPH Bakery in Union Springs. Let’s also not forget the great swag presented by the state leadership committee!

We would also like to thank the Richard Stone Complex for graciously allowing us to use their facility.

We look forward to future events like this that empower women to advocate for agriculture and continue growing our membership.
