This is hard for me to write, but it is time to vote out U.S. Rep. Troy Balderson, R-Ohio's 12th Congressional District. He and I have been longtime friends, but he has lost his way.
Rather than voting, speaking out, or supporting policies I believe he knows are right for Ohioans, he has become a "yes man” for those in power who do not have our interests at heart.
I am voting for Jerrad Christian for Congress. He is not a “radical Democrat.” He is a Navy vet and a family man. He supports:
• Reforming public education to be outcome-focused and more accountable for our kids and grandkids
• Raising the minimum wage so people who work full-time can afford to live without government subsidies
• Regulating AI and data centers to be sure our water and electric bills don’t skyrocket
• Protecting Social Security
• Addressing childcare affordability so that more parents/caregivers can go to work
• Getting money out of politics (like the money Troy Balderson gets from Israeli lobbyists).
Through action and inaction, Troy is supporting many of the Trump administration's policies that are diminishing the U.S. and hurting Ohioans.
Attacks on our closest ally, Canada, and tariffs on them and some 60 other countries are stupid. They are costing the average Ohio family over $1,000 per year, and are causing U.S. job losses. Tariffs ARE taxes, and only Congress can approve taxes.
Trump’s war with Iran has been supported by Troy, as he recently voted not to rein in the president's illegal war actions. The Constitution states that only Congress can declare war. The Pentagon has reported 18 U.S. military personnel killed and nearly 800 others wounded so far, along with war costs exceeding $34 billion. Estimates suggest replenishing expended weapons and equipment and rebuilding over 100 damaged U.S. bases in the Mideast will cost over $100 billion.
Troy seems to only give farmers lip service, considering their increasing operational costs and shrinking margins. All of this will increase inflation for food and necessities as well.
Additionally, I cannot vote for Troy because he voted for the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB). I was good with the tax cuts until I learned that 70% of the total tax cut value goes to the richest Americans. The bill also cuts Medicaid funds by over $536 billion over 9 years, much of which supports our rural hospitals.
Finally, I cannot vote for Troy because he supports ICE. I fully support getting undocumented illegal criminals out of the U.S. and a secure border, but this has gone too far. As a Christian, I don’t see ICE following the due process rules in our Constitution and civil laws that protect all of us. Troy seems to be ok with masked, unaccountable, semi-trained ICE agents in our towns.
I am a lifelong Republican, but Troy and our current Republicans have lost their way if they think a $40 trillion national debt (and growing) is ok. It is time to try someone different. The threats of democratic socialism are scare tactics.
Be a Patriot and join me in giving Democrats like Jerrad Christian a chance. Republicans are bankrupting us financially and morally. Ohioans demand better.
