We’re growing our community (AGAIN)!

Queens Village Akron is back on Instagram. Follow us at for updates, stories, resources, and highlights of the work happening alongside Black mothers, families, and our partners across the community.

Facebook will still be active, but Instagram will give us another space to share moments in real time and stay connected in a more visual way.

We’d love to have you with us there, too.

What a beautiful day of learning, encouragement, and community!

A heartfelt thank you to Jasmine Hickman of Milk Love for walking alongside the women who joined us for our Nurtured & Nourished Breastfeeding Workshop. Your knowledge, compassion, and willingness to answer every question created a space where mothers felt seen, supported, and empowered on their breastfeeding journeys.

We are also grateful to MBHG for addressing the mental and emotional challenges that can often weigh heavily on women as they navigate breastfeeding. By helping mothers understand the connection between mental wellness and breastfeeding success, you provided invaluable support and encouragement.

The feedback was overwhelming, women raved about the experience! From practical breastfeeding guidance to honest conversations about the realities of motherhood, participants left feeling more confident, informed, and connected to a village of support.

This is exactly why Queens Village exists: to ensure Black mothers and families have access to education, resources, and a community that uplifts them every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared, learned, and poured into one another. Together, we are nurturing healthier families and stronger communities one mother at a time.

Happy Birthday to our incredible QV Program Coordinator!

Today, we celebrate someone who shows up with consistency, heart, and a steady commitment to the people and work that hold our community together. Your leadership behind the scenes keeps programs moving, voices heard, and spaces grounded in care and purpose.

You don’t just coordinate work—you help create connections. You help turn plans into impact, and impact into something people can actually feel.

We’re grateful for the way you lead with patience, clarity, and integrity. May this next year bring you the same support, growth, and joy you pour into others every day.

Happy Birthday Christel King!

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the QV Akron Community Advisory Board!

From day one, these women jumped in with both feet — bringing their voices, ideas, passion, and commitment to the planning of Black Maternal Health Week. Their willingness to serve, collaborate, and advocate alongside Queens Village is already making an impact.

We are excited for the wisdom, leadership, and community-centered vision they each bring to this work. The future of maternal and infant health advocacy is stronger because of dedicated people willing to show up and build with us.

Welcome to the QV CAB family — we’re grateful to have you on this journey with us.

We’re not done highlighting .

The Provider Viewing of More Life was a powerful reminder of what happens when purpose meets partnership. This space brought together dedicated professionals committed to changing outcomes for Black women and babies , and it showed.

We honor and uplift the Black physicians who continue to lead with excellence, compassion, and courage:
Dr. Cheryl Johnson, MD
Dr. Dante Roulette, MD
Dr. Marisa Perkins, CNM
Dr. Lorraine Walters, DO
Dr. Jeanne Nwagwu, DO

Your presence, your voices, and your work matter more than words can fully capture. You are shifting narratives and saving lives. WE HONOR YOU!

A special congratulations to John and Ciara on the incredible production of More Life. This film is more than storytelling, it’s truth telling, legacy building, and a call to action.

To our partners, Minority Behavioral Health Group, The Eban Company, Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Akron Children's Hospital Safe Mobility Project, Good Place Holding, Humana, and The Latson Family, who helped bring BMHW 2026 to life across all four events, thank you. This is what community looks like. This is what impact feels like. We love y'all!

We’re just getting started. So much more to come!
