To the many su***de loss survivors, take some extra time for yourself today. Know that you matter, you make a difference, and you have an impact. 💜🩵

The Haley Project is hoping to form a su***de grief support group for loss survivors in Ainsworth, NE (also open for surrounding towns). Please reach out to us if this is something you’d be interested in! We haven’t had enough interest so far to be able to begin the process. Reach out if you have any questions.

Today is International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day, also known as đź’™

For survivors of su***de loss, there is a unique and powerful comfort that may be gained by being in the presence of others who have experienced this complex type of loss. 🫂✨

Today, in-person events are taking place around the world, bringing su***de loss survivors together to gain understanding and support each other’s healing journeys. Some people attend every year as a way of honoring their loved one, checking in with themselves, and healthily recognizing the way their feelings evolve over time.

Don’t forget to order your Cards of Kindness by Tuesday, November 18th!! 🫶 I’ve extended the deadline.

About Cards of Kindness:
Have you ever received a letter in the mail that was hand written to you and it meant so much that you kept it, even years later? Now that we have technology for texting and calling, letters aren’t utilized much anymore.. but there’s something special about holding a message in your hands that you know someone hand-wrote just for you.

From now until November 18th, we want to bring back those thoughtful messages and the special feeling of getting a letter in the mail just for you. In exchange for a donation in our Cards of Kindness campaign, you can submit a name, address, and a note for a person you’d like to remind that they are cared for. 💜

Whoever your person is, we’d love to help you remind them of their importance and that they are loved. Winter, especially for those struggling with seasonal depression or having a hard time with the big holiday celebrations, can be difficult for many. By supporting Cards of Kindness, we can all spread more hope and light by reminding the ones we love that they matter. A few words can make a big difference.

For a $5 donation, your person will receive a custom Haley Project card and handwritten note with your message, two mental health stickers, and an inspirational quote reminder card. For a $15 donation, your person will receive everything listed above along with a “pocket hug” token and a $5 gift card from Starbucks, Subway, or Target (you choose!).

To donate, you can Venmo us at or reach out to Shawna if you want to donate cash. After sending your donation, you can message us with information about your letter. As a reminder, all donations go toward continuing our mission of mental health awareness and su***de prevention throughout rural Nebraska.

Let’s fill our hearts, and our mailboxes, up with love and kindness this month.

With love,
The Haley Project

Today, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. On this day, we take a moment to remind ourselves that mental health is a topic of importance and that it's okay to carry heavy things. We recognize the strength it takes to bear the weight of mental health struggles on your shoulders. Healing isn't always linear, and on some days, the weight can feel heavier than others. Just know that you don't have to carry it alone.

We hope all of you can take some time for yourselves today and check in on the ones you love. The weight you or your loved one is carrying is temporary, and there are brighter days to come. đź’ś

Today is September 17th, Haley’s birthday. Though she is no longer here with us, her light continues to guide The Haley Project and our efforts.

Birthdays after loss are never easy.. They come with so much ache of remembering who they were and wishing to know what they could have been now. For us, Haley will continue to be remembered with love and her impact on everyone around her.

If you knew Haley, we’d love it if you shared your favorite memory of her in the comments today. If you didn’t know her, we invite you to share a birthday memory of your lost loved one. 🩵💜

Happy Heavenly birthday Haley J. You are so so loved and so missed.

The Haley Project’s “A Light in the Darkness” walk turned out to be just what we hoped for. A giant thank you to everyone who came and walked with us to raise awareness for su***de prevention.

“Even when one flame flickers, others around it can help it burn bright again.”

Can’t wait to see you all next year! 🩵💜

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and we know how many questions can come up when it comes to su***de prevention, loss, and even supporting others who are struggling. This month, The Haley Project wants to help start these difficult conversations and hopefully bring answers to the community. 💜🩵

We’re opening up an anonymous question box where you can submit any questions that have been on your mind with no judgment and no names. Throughout the month, we’ll do our best to share some of these questions (and thoughtful answers) here on our page.

**This submission box is for questions only; please call or text 988 for crisis resources as we will not be sharing responses that are from someone in crisis, not related to the topic, or not helpful for the community to discuss. Also refrain from sharing information that could disclose your identity or personal details. Lastly, remember that it is best to consult your doctor with concerns related to your mental health and symptoms.**

Submit your anonymous question here:
https://forms.gle/sLHHazcXfvDMyNCL6

Together, we can have these conversations in hope of breaking down the stigma and reminding each other that no one is alone. If you’ve had a question before, it’s likely that someone else has too. 💜🩵

The Haley Project’s “A Light in the Darkness” Walk 2025

Please join us on Saturday, September 6th at 7:00 PM at the East City Park in Ainsworth for a community walk dedicated to raising awareness about su***de, honoring those we’ve lost, and bringing hope to those who are struggling. There can be light in the darkness, and we hope to create that hope for the community.

At the walk, you can expect:
- a table with goodies and water at the beginning for all walkers
- a mile long walk open to all community members
- memorial posters on the walk route
- a candlelight vigil in the park following the walk to remember those we’ve lost

If you would like your loved one to be included on a memorial poster, please reach out to us with: an image of them, a quote they are remembered by, and their name. You can message our page here or send your information to Shawna at 402-382-8883. Feel free to also bring pictures or mementos of your loved ones to our candlelight vigil following the walk— we will have a table of remembrance for them. 💗

This event is about coming together as a community to show that no one is ever alone in their journey with mental health or su***de grief. Whether you walk to remember someone you’ve lost or just walk to support su***de prevention, we’d love to see you there! Don’t forget: you, too, can be a light in the darkness.

As always, for Haley, and for hope for the future.
