🦇 As Halloween approaches, we think the only thing scary about senior living is how many myths are out there. 🕷️

For example, many people worry it will be difficult to make friends in a new community. In fact, researchers believe that senior housing communities are ideal for reducing loneliness among older adults, where they are surrounded by peers who share similar life experiences.

EverTrue Affordable Housing communities offer many activities and diverse opportunities for social engagement between neighbors — in addition to the clubs and interest groups residents can join.

Jeaneen found friends and community by founding a walking club when she moved into EverTrue Hilltop Heights. With all the walking and other activities that keep Jeaneen and her friends busy, she says “I might be 89 but I feel like I’m 30.”

Help us celebrate Brian, who is marking an amazing 5 years with EverTrue, and Chad, celebrating 3 years this month! 🎉

These two go above and beyond every day to keep EverTrue Village at Mackenzie running smoothly—and apparently, they’re officially taking their maintenance superpowers to the next level! 😉🦸‍♂️

🎃 While Halloween is known for spooky stories, there’s nothing scary about senior living. 🎃

We know that thinking about senior living can come with a lot of questions... and sometimes a few fears too, like: Will I make friends? Will I feel lonely? Can I still be independent? What if downsizing feels overwhelming?

EverTrue is using October to replace fear with facts, tackling some real-life concerns older adults and families have about senior living and aging. We'll share practical tips, expert insights and real-life stories on topics like friendship, mental health, independence, downsizing and more.

Stay tuned here and on the EverTrue page throughout the month as we separate myths from reality — and show why there may be less to be afraid of than you think.

Residents of EverTrue Village at Mackenzie aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty as part of new community garden efforts. 🪴

Working with community partners like Seed St. Louis and with funds from local foundations, EverTrue Affordable Housing communities like ours have community gardens. 🌱

By tending to the gardens, growing everything from flowers and herbs to vegetables and fruit, our residents benefit from being more active, by socializing with neighbors while gardening and from the abundance that comes from working with their hands — fresh produce from the gardens helps provide a source of free, healthy food for older adults on a fixed income.
