Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue

Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue is a Non-profit 501c3 rescue specializing in finding loving homes for Australian Shepherds in need.
(1)

NW-MN Aussie Rescue is a 501c3 Non-Profit Rescue that takes in Australian Shepherds that need a new home for whatever reason. We also ensure the aussies are up to date on vaccinations, spay/neuter, micro-chipping and any other health issue they may have resolved. NW-MN Aussie Rescue does not pay for any of the Australian Shepherds that come through the rescue. We ensure the dog will not come into

harms way and will have a loving warm home in return. A surrender form must be filled out prior to relinquishment of an aussie. Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue also works in conjunction with Aussie Rescue of Minnesota and will often work together in finding the right home. All homes will be screened prior to placement of an aussie. An adoption application must be filled out by the potential adopters. We strive to ensure the best possible fit for an aussie into a family, therefore, all aussies are screened carefully upon arrival at NW-MN Aussie Rescue. Should NW-MN Aussie Rescue not have what a potential family wants, often Aussie Rescue of Minnesota (ARM) will be contacted for any prospective aussies that may reside in Elk River, MN where Aussie Rescue of Minnesota (ARM) is based.

Who is a short and stout, 2019 edition of a mini Aussie, weighing in at a whopping 23 lbs, with a sweet natured personality? Meet Jade! ❤️

Jade is a beautiful red tri Aussie who is looking for his furever home away from a commercial breeder. Gorgeous Jade would do best in a calm home with a fenced yard where he can learn to be a dog. He takes some time to warm up but really wants to learn what the good life is all about. ❤️💕 Jade is not best suited for a family with young children as they may scare him.

Happy Foster Friday! We are searching for a foster home for Red/Scout — a gorgeous red Aussie who was dumped in the wilderness with his trust stolen and heart broken. We were notified of Scout's appearance and disappearance a few days before the 4th of July. This was seriously not a celebration for this beautiful boy. We contacted the Retrievers and set a camera, but to no avail, this drifter did not appear for us again. Spreading the word and after several grueling heat and humidity driven days, this guy finally gave in after being spotted in a ditch by good Samaritans driving by while he was looking for some shade to cool down. ❤️

We were trying to track this beautiful boy for several days, and finally someone had him in their sights. A quick call to us, and we grabbed Pickles (who was dumped in the similar vicinity within the same time frame) and drove to their location. Upon arriving with Pickles, and a little coaxing, this beautiful Red Tri boy named Scout appeared — with the nub of his tail showing a slight wiggle and ears perked as he recognized Pickle’s scent. He slowly approached her with a little coaxing and herding by the humans, and we were able to loop his neck with a lead and es**rt him to a cool vehicle to relax safely in a crate loaded next to Pickles herself. Both wiggling in their crates leaning to the inside wall of their crates, where they could share each other's presence. ❤️❤️

❤️ Scout is a 2020 edition of Red Tri Mini Australian Shepherd. This boy has been through a lot and is a little shy but is wiggling more and more every day now that he has a place to rest his head and stay cool. This boy has been pretty good keeping his kennel run clean, gets along great with Pickles. He doesn't seem to be bothered by other dogs as well. Due to being dumped near the wildlife reserve his hair was a little matted, but we suspect it has been matted for a while and have had to shave his hips to prevent any sores and help clean up his coat.

Scout will need a future dental appointment through NWMNAR, but in the interim, he is sniffing out his foster home. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, heartworm checked, and now available for foster, foster-to-adopt, or adoption.

❤️❤️❤️ If you truly want to rescue a dog with the potential to rescue you back - Scout is definitely the boy for you! Give him a chance and watch him bloom! 🌼

Meet Kovu Lupin — a beautiful, house-trained 2023 edition of Australian Shepherd x Blue Heeler who was born deaf. But don't let that fool you. This boy will stick to you like glue and wants to please. ❤️❤️❤️

Kovu knows basic hand signals — and will be your sidekick who likes to regulate other animals and is therefore best as an only dog. He has high herding instincts, and may not be the best playmate for children, thus he will do best in an adult companion home.

Sometimes the hardest rescues have the most beautiful endings. ❤️🐾

Rescue work comes with so many emotions. There are the happy endings, the heartbreaks, the long nights, and the moments when one special animal finds a way to touch the heart of everyone he meets.

Paddy was one of those very special cases.

The last of our St. Patty’s Day litter has finally been adopted—and his journey to get there was anything but easy.

Paddy was born in rescue, a deaf little puppy who needed a little extra help from the very beginning. At 8 weeks old, he still wasn’t eating hard food, so while all of his sisters went off to foster homes to begin their journeys toward adoption, Paddy stayed behind.

He was struggling with a major infection, and his skin had turned completely gray—there wasn’t a bit of pink showing.

Brenda refused to give up on him.

She spent countless sleepless nights bottle-feeding Paddy, taking him everywhere she went so she could keep him close, watch over him, and give him every chance to get stronger.

Slowly, he began to fight his way back.

At 14 weeks old, Paddy was finally healthy enough to join one of his sisters in foster care. We thought maybe the hardest part was behind him.

Then came another hurdle.

Within days, Paddy began going bow-legged. Once again, we changed course, switched his food, and watched carefully.

And once again, Paddy proved just how strong he was.

His little legs began to straighten.

And now, at 6 months old, after everything he had been through, Paddy has finally found what we hoped for from the very beginning:

His forever family. 🥹❤️

Paddy is now home with Brandi and Lukas, a Border Collie mix—and a cat he is still learning about.

And the moment Paddy met his new canine sister, something just clicked.

He absolutely adored her at first sight.

After all the sleepless nights.
After the bottle feedings.
After the infections.
After the setbacks.
After every moment when we wondered what the future would hold for this little deaf puppy…

Paddy finally has his people.

His home.

His family.

His happily ever after.

Adoption days are always emotional, but some are harder than others. Paddy had been loved and fought for by so many people along the way, and saying goodbye brought plenty of tears.

But these are the tears we rescue workers live for.

The tears that come from knowing that a puppy who once needed someone to simply keep him alive is now running toward a future filled with love.

Paddy, you were worth every sleepless night. Every bottle. Every worry. Every tear.

You were worth fighting for.

Go live your best life, sweet boy. You have waited long enough. ❤️🐾

And to Brandi and Lukas—thank you for seeing the incredible little soul that Paddy has always been and for giving him the forever home he so deserved.

Happy life, Paddy. Your rescue family will love you forever. ❤️🐶

Grab a tissue! This poor, beautiful girl named Pickles was dumped in a wildlife reserve with two other Aussies to fend for themselves. We can't imagine why anyone would do this, as it is incredibly insensitive and cowardly. Regardless of the pure distaste that a human can do to a helpless animal, Pickles has proved to us that she has so much love to give. ❤️

Not only has Pickles been saved, she wants to save you too! ❤️❤️

Pickles is a beautiful blue merle girl, stunning mini version of an Australian Shepherd, weighing in at 27.8 lbs, but putting some weight on after being malnourished. She’s 5-6 years old (estimated) and looking to be loved. This girl wants to please and has a smile on her face at all times. 😊

Good with dogs

❤️😊💕 So far, she has been an absolute gem! She keeps her kennel clean and has been looking for attention at all times … And just wants to wiggle into your heart! ❤️ ❤️💕❤️

❤️ Pickles is good with other dogs. Her leash skills are coming along, and she is ready to meet the world. She has some upcoming dental needs but is ready to start looking for her new home. Pickles has since been spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Pickles is available for adoption via our website:

Ladies — Do you enjoy spending time in your garden watering special flowers? Then today is a lovely day to meet Jackson, 🐾 a striking Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix born in 2017 with a big personality and an even bigger heart for the right lady. Jackson is an intelligent, high-drive “alpha” type who thrives best as the only pet in the home, where he doesn’t have to compete for attention — and would love to be among your special flowers as your loyal companion. ❤️💕😊🌼🌺

Jackson can be the jealous type and prefers a calm, adult household without children, as busy environments can make him uneasy. He especially bonds well with women, who have a wonderfully calming effect on him and help him feel safe and secure.❤️💕

This loyal guy does best with an experienced dog owner who understands working breeds and can provide structure, consistency, and mental stimulation. In return, Jackson offers devotion, companionship, and a deep one-on-one bond that’s truly special.❤️
