We have started this page to keep everyone informed about our new Annual Independence Day Event, The Abingdon Freedom Fest!

We’re sad to announce that this year’s Abingdon Freedom Fest has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

We truly appreciate all the support from our community, volunteers, and sponsors. We’re hopeful to bring the event back next year, even bigger and better!

The Merchants Hotel was once a proud fixture in downtown Abingdon, welcoming travelers and locals alike in the early 1900s. It stood as a symbol of hospitality and small-town charm, a place where visitors found rest and community found connection.

While the building may be gone, its memory still lingers in Abingdon’s rich history.

This electric railway turned long, bumpy wagon rides into a quick and easy commute — opening doors to work, goods, and big-city experiences right from small-town life.
