🏠✨ A Fresh Start, A New Beginning ✨🏠

When Ashley got a place of her own, one of her biggest concerns was how she would furnish it. That's when Fresh Start Furnishings stepped in.

"Fresh Start helped out when I was in need."

Ashley shared that before finding Fresh Start, life was stressful and uncertain. Having access to furniture and household essentials helped ease that burden and allowed her to focus on moving forward. She told us that finding Fresh Start changed her life for the better and eliminated the stress of not having furniture for her new home.

Today, Ashley is looking forward to settling into her home, enjoying the items she received, and building the life she has worked so hard to create.

Most of all, she is grateful for the mental, physical, and emotional support she has received from family and others along the way.

Stories like Ashley's remind us that furniture is more than tables, beds, and sofas. It's comfort. It's dignity. It's stability. And for many families, it's the foundation for a brighter future.

Meet Richard- a senior veteran that served our country with honor who was recently referred to the Fresh Start Furnishings program through the Perry Point VA, a community partner we receive many referrals from.

Pictured beside him is his case worker, who helped guide him through the process of transitioning into his new home.

With the support of generous donors and volunteers, Richard received many of the essentials needed to help furnish his space, including a queen bed, dresser, nightstand, loveseat, upholstered chair, dining furniture, tables, lamps, television, microwave, toaster, kitchenware, linens, bathroom items, and home decor.

But one of the sweetest moments of the day came from something unexpected. Earlier that same day, someone donated a stuffed cat that looked incredibly real. Richard absolutely loved it and was thrilled that he could have it.

Moments like these remind us that creating a home is not just about furniture. It is about comfort, dignity, connection, and the small things that make people feel cared for.

What happens when organizations and volunteers come together around a shared commitment to community? Real impact.

Recently, 9 incredible volunteers from Harford Mutual Insurance Group spent the day serving alongside volunteers at Fresh Start Furnishings, helping create stability and dignity for neighbors transitioning out of crisis.

Together, they:

• Loaded and unloaded furniture for clients and donors
• Reorganized the showroom as inventory changed
• Made room for an upcoming Second Chance, Inc. delivery
• Moved furniture for deliveries into overflow containers
• Updated our picture wall
• Reupholstered chair cushions
• Cleaned furniture and case goods
• Matched lampshades to bases and tested lamps
• Assembled donor thank you packets
• Repaired and refinished donated items needing a little tlc

This is what collective impact looks like: businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, donors, and community partners working together to help families move from surviving to rebuilding.
