An update on South Dakota Film Festival:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the South Dakota Film Festival will not take place in 2025. This is certainly regrettable. It is our hope to once again produce the SDFF in 2026, and we look forward to meeting great filmmakers and presenting outstanding films from all over South Dakota - and the world - in the future.
We’re sorry about this - but we appreciate your continued support of the Aberdeen Community Theatre, Capitol Cinema and the South Dakota Film Festival, and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

The SDFF wishes to thank local automotive industry leader, Steven Lust Automotive , for their generous support of the 2024 event. Our official Film Fest chauffeur, Joel, transported our special guests all around town in this gorgeous, blue, brand new GMC Terrain!
Joel says the Terrain is a lot of fun to drive - visit Lust Auto to check out this vehicle along with many more, both new and used, cars and trucks!

As morning breaks the day after the 18th annual South Dakota Film Festival, I find myself reflecting on how appreciative I am of all the volunteers and staff who worked so hard. Their dedication to making the festival a memorable experience for both the community and the filmmakers is truly commendable.

Thank you to our filmmakers who brought their passion to our stage, offering a unique experience. Not only were their films entertaining, but the one-on-one interactions also made the festival truly special. I always wish I had more time to sit and talk with each of you. Even though the festival is over, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I would love to see what’s next for all of you.

A special thanks to our sponsors; without their support—ranging from food to funds—this festival would not have been possible.
