We are proud that Phoenix Holocaust Association board members Robin LaCorte, Ashley Crose, and Ettie Zilber are participating in the annual Martin-Springer Institute Summer Holocaust Teacher Conference.

This meaningful program equips educators to teach about the lasting impact of the Holocaust while promoting empathy, compassion, dialogue, and understanding. Through education, research, and the arts, participants explore ways to challenge discrimination and help build stronger, more caring communities.

Thank you for helping carry Holocaust education and remembrance forward.

Today, June 4, we honor Holocaust Survivor Day — a day dedicated to celebrating the lives, resilience, strength, and legacy of Holocaust survivors around the world.

Phoenix Holocaust Association is grateful to partner with the Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix as a recipient of a 2026 Holocaust Survivor Micro-Grant through Seed the Dream Foundation in partnership with KAVOD, supporting Holocaust Survivor Day programming in our community.

While Holocaust Remembrance Day memorializes those who were lost, Holocaust Survivor Day shines a light on the survivors who continue to inspire us through their courage, perseverance, and contributions to future generations.

We look forward to honoring our local survivors at the Holocaust Survivor Day Gala and Café Europa on June 14. ❤️

We are proud to share that KJZZ host Phil Latzman received the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Region 3 Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Sound for his powerful feature on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The story highlighted the Phoenix Symphony’s commemorative performance and the music of Gideon Klein, a Czechoslovakian composer who was murdered in Auschwitz in 1945. We are honored to have been part of this meaningful remembrance through music, history, and storytelling.

At our May Café Europa yesterday afternoon, we were honored to welcome special guest Sarah Nevah from the Arizona Jewish Academy, who shared reflections on her recent trip to Poland and the profound impact it had on her and her peers.

We were also delighted to welcome back Holocaust survivor Julie Gutfreund, and to introduce new survivor Rita Brezkn, who discovered PHA through her friend Debby and is happy to now be part of our community.

These meaningful conversations and connections remind us of the importance of sharing stories, preserving history, and building community across generations.
