ARAMANTHAN MATOVU
Birthday: May 14, 2013
Born into a humble family with limited resources, his childhood has been defined by the daily struggles of survival. His family, though not impoverished to the point of him being an orphan, has always had to scrape by. His father, a fisherman, depends on the river for their livelihood, and at the age of 7, he started fishing alongside his father, casting nets into the flowing waters. At first, he thought this was his future. With his hands submerged in the water and his heart weighed down by responsibility, he had little interest in school. The idea of education seemed distant and impractical to him when fishing felt like the only way to help his family survive. He was already working long hours and wasn’t sure how learning could change his reality.
Director Kayaa Yonah from His Grace Organization spotted his potential and recognized that the boy’s sharp mind and determination could be nurtured through education. After speaking with him, Director Kayaa convinced him to reconsider the power of learning and the opportunities it could bring. He with some hesitation, agreed to give school a chance. He enrolled in Primary 4 in 2025 at Kitezi HisGrace Nursery & Primary School, a local school that provides a nurturing environment for children who, like him, come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Despite his initial doubts, he quickly began to grasp the importance of education. He was a diligent student, eager to learn and determined to catch up with his peers. As he became more immersed in his studies, he realized that education could be the key to breaking the cycle of poverty he had known all his life. He began to dream—dream of a future beyond the fishing boats, a future where he could wear a suit and make decisions that would affect his community.
His new dream is to become a doctor. Inspired by the doctors he sees in hospitals treating the sick, he wants to one day wear a white coat and heal people in his community. He knows that becoming a doctor will require years of dedication, education, and support, but now he believes it is possible. In his free time, He loves to swim, boat race, dance and sing. Despite the challenges of his daily life, he finds joy in these activities. Though his education is partly funded by His Grace Organization, they are not able to cover all the costs. He still needs a sponsor who can support his school fees and meals, allowing him to focus fully on his studies.
