Into Surgery with a Heart Full of Hope 🕊️

Today, May 6th, is a big day for me and the Another Hope Children's Ministries, Uganda family. I am heading into surgery to repair the injuries from my accident, and I couldn't go in without saying one thing: THANK YOU.

I am truly overwhelmed. To those who gave toward my surgery and physiotherapy, and to everyone who has sent a message of encouragement—you are the reason I am heading into this procedure with a smile. You haven’t just supported a mission; you have supported me.

A Day of Deep Connection: Visiting Matthias & His Family ❤️🏡
Headline: Transformation is a Journey We Take Together! 🤝🎒

Body: Our recent field visit with Tendo Matthias was a powerful reminder that sponsorship is about so much more than a monthly gift—it’s about being present in a child's world. We were honored to have his sponsor, Ms. Macy, join us to see the "how and why" of our mission in action.

1. A Heart for the Home 👵🔥 Our journey took us deep into the village to visit Matthias’s grandmother. While we celebrated her resilience, we also saw her daily struggles, like the long distances she travels for water. 💧 To help lighten her load, Ms. Macy provided a new charcoal stove, fuel, and a comfortable mattress for the home. 🛏️

2. Success in the Schoolroom 🎓🔢 At Happy Times School, the teachers shared that Matthias is thriving in his environment! He feels safe and supported, though he’s found a "giant" to tackle: Mathematics. 🔢 We are already planning remedial lessons to help him master his numbers and keep his confidence high.

3. Rest & Well-being 😴👟 A quick check of the dormitories revealed Matthias needed a better place to rest. Within hours, he had a brand-new mattress and a neatly made bed! A trip to town for new shoes and snacks was the "cherry on top" of a day focused on his emotional and physical health. 🥨

The Path Forward: 🚀 This visit highlighted new goals, like exploring a water tank for the grandmother to solve the water scarcity issue and securing a dictionary and atlas for Matthias’s studies. 🗺️📖

Empowerment Highlights 🏗️
🌸 Celebrating the Women Who Shape Us! 🌸 For International Women's Day, we didn't just celebrate—we took action! We hosted a hands-on training day focused on practical skills that empower women to lead more sustainable and organized lives. 🏗️

Here is what we accomplished together:

Sustainable Energy: The women mastered the art of making Paper Briquettes! 🗞️ By turning waste paper into fuel, they are protecting the environment 🌳 and saving money on charcoal. 💰

Culinary Innovation: We explored 3 different ways to cook rice! 🍚 The focus was on fuel efficiency 🔥 and keeping meals as nutritious as possible for their families. 🥗

Home Management: A happy home starts with a plan. 🧺 The women learned organization techniques to make their living spaces more efficient and peaceful. 🤝

The Best Part: 🌟 The energy was incredible! The participants didn't just learn these skills; they promised to take them home and teach their neighbors. This is how community transformation begins.

🩺 Update: The Journey to Recovery for Our Founder 🩺 Since the serious accident that shook our community, your support has been the bridge leading our Executive Director and Founder back to health. We want to share exactly where we are on this road to recovery.
The Journey So Far: 🛣️

Phase 1: Stabilization. Thanks to your rapid response, all emergency medical bills and initial hospital admissions were fully covered. 🩺

Phase 2: Preparation. Because of your generosity, we have already secured the funding needed for the upcoming critical surgery. 💰

Phase 3: Operational Strength. Your support ensured that while our leader focused on healing, the work at Another Hope never stopped. Our team has remained 100% operational for the children. 🎒🤝

There is nothing quite like the joy of a full belly and a thankful heart! Today, two of our boys, Junior and Keith, wanted to send a very special message across the miles to our dear friend, Aunt Marissa. 🇺🇬✨

Because of Marissa’s kindness and her support for our food program, these boys—and so many others at Another Hope—are growing up healthy, strong, and ready to learn. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a reminder to these children that they are loved and seen by family all over the world.
