Day 3, Salomé stepped into the heart of Ugandan culture 🇺🇬✨
She learned how to prepare Matooke — a traditional Baganda dish, carefully wrapped and steamed in banana leaves.

From peeling and preparing the food outdoors to sharing a meal with the children, it was more than just cooking — it was connection, culture, and community ❤️

Moments like these remind us how powerful cultural exchange can be.

Day 2 with Salomé was truly special ❤️
She spent part of the day planting vegetables for an elderly woman in our community—sharing kindness where it’s needed most. She also prepared lunch for the children at the shelter, bringing smiles to everyone.

We ended the day gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments with the children.

This is more than volunteering—it’s connection, impact, and memories that last a lifetime.

🌍 Day 1 with Salome at Kalule Bwaise Children’s Shelter

Our day started beautifully with Salome preparing breakfast for the kids — a warm and caring way to begin her journey with us. ❤️

She then engaged the children in a cultural exchange session, sharing stories, learning from each other, and building meaningful connections.

The energy continued with fun games, laughter, and joy all around! 🎉

To end the day, we visited a community member’s home where Salome planted a tree 🌱 — supporting our climate action efforts and leaving a lasting impact.

It was truly an awesome and fulfilling day!

Seven wonderful days with Mrs Monica at Kalule Bwaise Children’s Shelter come to an end 🇺🇬❤️

On her final day, she prepared and served lunch 🍲 to the children as a heartfelt way of saying goodbye. It was a moment filled with gratitude, love, and connection that the children will always remember 💛

Day 6 with Mrs. Monica 💚

Today was all about impact and teamwork. Mrs. Monica joined our children and the FAF team at our new school site, where they planted 300 vegetable seedlings—a step toward sustainability and food security for the future. 🌱

Later, she returned to the shelter and spent time helping the children wash their clothes, sharing moments of care, laughter, and connection.

This is what volunteering with us looks like—real impact, real stories, real change.

After a powerful day in the slum of Bwaise, Mrs. Monica returned to our Kalule Bwaise Children’s Shelter in Buwambo to share a simple but meaningful lunch with the children ❤️

Day 4: Today, Mrs Monica visited Bwaise, one of Kampala’s most underserved communities—where many of the children at Kalule Bwaise Children’s Shelter come from.

She spent time speaking with local families, listening to their realities and how they cope day to day. The experience was overwhelming. At one point, she broke down in tears—moved by the strength, but also the hardship she witnessed.

Despite it all, she shared what she could—offering food to those who needed it most.

Later, she returned to the shelter in Buwambo, carrying with her a deeper understanding of why this work matters.

This is more than a visit. It’s connection. It’s reality. It’s impact.
