🚨 U.S. Senator Jim Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has called for a review of Washington’s security partnership with Uganda following a controversial order linked to Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The call comes after Muhoozi allegedly directed the shutdown of leading media houses, including Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda on June 28, 2026.

Muhoozi, who is also the son of President Yoweri Museveni, is reported to have stated that he does not believe in a free press, adding that he has the authority to close any media outlet and that those affected would not be allowed to reopen without his approval.

The developments have triggered concern in Washington, with Senator Risch warning that such actions could prompt a reassessment of U.S.–Uganda security cooperation.
