Join us for a powerful conversation with Mach Riak Garang, Founding Executive Director of the Joint Debate Society, Mastercard Foundation Scholar at ALU, and student at Berea College, USA.

In this upcoming show, “Debate and Public Speaking: Building South Sudan’s Next Generation of Leaders,” we focus on a skill that directly shapes how young people think, speak, and lead.

Debate and public speaking build critical thinking, confidence, and clear communication. These are not optional skills. They are necessary for anyone who wants to lead and create impact.

This session will explore the reality on the ground. Why are these skills still missing in many schools? What needs to change? And what practical steps can make debate part of the education system in South Sudan?

Drawing from real experience, Mach Riak will share how early exposure to debate shaped his journey and what young people can learn from it.

We will also tackle key questions:
What makes debate a strong foundation for leadership?
How can schools implement it practically?
How can you start building these skills with limited resources?
