Soy Foundation is registered by National NGO Board and Kapchorwa Local Government as a Non-Governmental organization, based in Kapchorwa District in Eastern Uganda. We strive to provide emergency relief, education, health promotion, food security, institutional support, conflict mitigation & resolution in the war ravaged areas of Eastern and North-eastern Uganda. –led and owned initiatives. We create opportunities for resident’s growth, security, participation, recognition, ownership and empowerment:•we create opportunities for child care, we stimulate involvement in arts and culture, and the pursue of economic development,
• We seek to enhance the latent and technical skills of the people through partnerships with community institutions, research organisations, churches, schools, health agencies, government departments and other public and non-public institutions
•In all our actions, we strive to build hope within the communities we work with. Our philosophy
In order for communities of all ages and ethnicities to prolong their lives, increase their efficiency and be capable of making informed choices, they must have access to quality education, improved health services, food security, strong and efficient structures and institutions. Literacy and sustainable livelihood sources are the cornerstone of economic, democratic and social reform. Governance and leadership
Soy Foundation was founded in 2005, by communities in the Sebei region (Kapchorwa and Bukwo Districts), under the vision and leadership of Mr. Cheshewa Stephen Maunya. Soy Foundation is member-owned, with a current membership of 15 organized and registered associations of women, youth groups and internally displaced people. The Foundation’s General Assembly - represented by a Board of Directors of nine (9) Board members headed by the chairperson – are the Foundation’s policy makers. It has a secretariat with six (6) volunteer staff (3 females and 3 males) headed by an Executive Director.
