🏃♂️Javan Kamishana Shines at Mbarara City Marathon!🏅
Life Secondary School, Kyempene – August 4th, 2025
In an inspiring display of grit, talent, and determination, Javan Kamishana of Senior-3, Life Secondary School Kyempene, has stormed into the regional athletics scene by finishing third in the highly competitive Save the River Rwizi Mbarara City Marathon held on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025.
Out of over 150 runners, some of them seasoned veterans, Javan stood out—not only because of his speed but because it was his first ever public marathon. His performance is nothing short of remarkable, considering he only began his athletics journey at the start of Term II, 2025, when he ran in the school's inter-house competitions.
Since then, Javan has grown from a school-level participant into a formidable long-distance runner on the rise. His natural talent, work ethic, and heart have earned him a string of upcoming race opportunities. He is now preparing to represent Life Secondary School and his community at an upcoming marathon in Kasese, followed by an intensive training program in Kapchorwa during August and September, before he takes on marathons in Kenya and Tanzania in October, 2025.
And this is no ordinary training. Javan will be coached under the mentorship of none other than gold medalist Kipsiro, a legend in Ugandan athletics. The opportunity is not just a win for Javan but a huge boost for the Life Schools community, showcasing the potential and promise that lies within our rural youth.
We proudly say thank you to Javan Kamishana, Life Secondary School, and the Life Schools network at large. Your determination is an inspiration, and your victory is a reminder that greatness often begins with one bold step forward.
Congratulations, Javan! Keep balancing your academics and athletics with excellence. The entire Life Schools family stands behind you, cheering you on, and praying for continued strength and success.
Let’s keep running—together.
