A Mother's Courage: Supporting Irene's Fight for a Better Tomorrow. In the humble village of Kitto, Kayunga, lives a woman whose story reflects strength, resilience, and unconditional love. Ms. Nabiryo Irene, a 40-year-old widow and mother of three boys, has braved unimaginable challenges yet she refuses to give up. After her husband's passing, Irene sold their only piece of productive land just to build a small structure that now shelters her family. The tiny compound leaves no room for farming, making daily survival a constant struggle. To support her children, Irene makes handmade mats from local materials. With determination and creativity, she crafts about four mats every month. Each mat sells for UGX 10,000, yet the cost of materials alone reaches UGX 11,000—meaning she unknowingly works at a loss. But Irene continues, driven by a mother's love and responsibility. Despite the hardships, Irene is raising boys with dreams larger than their circumstances: Nabutono Godfrey (20 years), Nabutono Yona (17 years), and Mayambala Gerald (15 years). Their meals are often limited to posho and doodo (greens)—not by choice, but because it's all they can afford. With sadness, Irene shared that her youngest son has never tasted sugar. Even school fees are a struggle to afford. Currently, Godfrey is in Primary Four at Busale Church of Uganda School, and his modest UGX 45,000 school fees are a challenge. A hardworking young man who completed Senior One at St. John's Secondary School, Godfrey dropped out of school due to lack of fees. He is currently jobless but remains hopeful. His dream is to become an engineer. Yona digs in people's gardens for UGX 5,000 per day to support his mother and save for his education.
A Call for Compassion: Your support can help Irene's family rise above hardship and build a future filled with hope, dignity, and opportunity. Resilient, Adaptability & Sustainable Communities (RASC) is committed to walking alongside families like Irene's by providing livelihood support, education sponsorship for children, food and household essentials, and community development initiatives. How You Can Help: provide materials to produce more mats, so she can earn a profit and provide a better future for her children. Her hard work, resilience, and motherly devotion deserve support and recognition.

HUMAN-INTEREST STORY: The Unshaken Strength of a Mother — The opportunities, she was forced into making heartbreaking decisions no mother should ever face. Ms. Madina Mutesi fights daily battles many cannot imagine. A mother of ten children, she has endured life’s hardships with unwavering strength and a heart full of love. Years ago, Ms. Mutesi’s husband abandoned the family, leaving her solely responsible for the care and survival of their children. Unable to meet the basic needs of all ten children, she had to send some of them to live with relatives and others to work as house helpers—hoping they would find a better chance at life. Today, she remains with her two youngest children, but even this is a struggle. Her 9th child, Nyombi Abdul, is 10 years old and lives with a severe disability that prevents him from walking, talking, or standing on his own. Ms. Mutesi, with no job and no reliable support system, carries him everywhere she goes—despite suffering from persistent chest pain and physical exhaustion. What she desires most right now is a wheelchair for Abdul, which would significantly ease her physical burden and improve his quality of life. Her story reminds us that strength is not always loud — sometimes, it is found in the quiet perseverance of a mother who refuses to give up on her children. Food, proper shelter, medical care, and education have all become daily challenges. Yet, her spirit remains unbroken. She dreams of providing her children with the opportunities she never had. In a humble home offered by a generous community member, Ms. Madina Mutesi continues to fight for her family’s future. Let us stand with Ms. Mutesi. With collective support, we can bring hope, dignity, and a better future to her family. A single act of kindness can make a difference.

HUMAN-INTEREST STORY: A Struggle for Survival — The Story of Mr. Sentongo and His Family

Their situation is a powerful reminder of the many families silently enduring hardship around us.

In a small village in Uganda, Mr. Sentongo and his wife, Ms. Jane, strive each day to keep their family afloat. They live with their children in a single, unfinished house built from sand walls, determined to provide for their children and ensure they do not lose sight of a brighter future.

Life for the family is a daily battle. With limited income and no reliable source of employment, even the most basic necessities have become a luxury. Most days, the family is fortunate to manage just one meal. The rare occasions when they enjoy a full meal are usually during village gatherings or community functions. Even then, they often walk long distances just for the chance to feed their children.

Despite the challenges they face, Mr. Sentongo and his wife remain hopeful. They are determined to provide for their children and ensure they do not lose sight of a brighter future. For families like theirs, for whom a day's meal is not guaranteed, and a safe home is still a dream, their story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and its capacity for progress.

HUMAN-INTEREST STORY: The Struggles of Ms. Nakawoya Zebeda — A Mother's Unwavering Courage. Let us come together to ensure that mothers like Zebeda are not left to battle alone, to provide access to education, food security, and opportunities that can transform lives. Her story is one of courage, sacrifice, and hope. As a community, we have the power to uplift mothers like her who are slipping away. In just eight months, while motherhood is often celebrated as a journey of joy, for Zebeda, it has been a path filled with hardship and daily battles for survival. Despite her unwavering love and determination, life has dealt her a series of difficulties, threatening her children's future. Her greatest wish is simple but profound: to see her daughters healthy, educated, and able to pursue their dreams without the limitations she has faced. Supporting a family in need today can create a strong, empowered future for generations to come. In the heart of our community lives Ms. Nakawoya Zebeda, a resilient mother of three young daughters, each full of innocence and potential. She continues to persevere each day, believing that with a helping hand, she can break the cycle of poverty. Yet, despite these challenges, there is a remarkable strength that radiates from this young mother. Today, Ms. Nakawoya Zebeda stands as a reminder that behind every struggling family is a story of hope for a brighter future, no matter how distant it may feel. 💛
