Save the Mothers Network

Save the Mothers Network A platform through which MPHL students, graduates and supporters of safe motherhood meetup and share

For seven years, Save the Mothers has been working in Uganda to bring about the societal change needed to reduce maternal mortality. Through our MPHL program (offered at Uganda Christian University) we have trained almost 200 East African leaders – from such diverse fields as politics, law, journalism, education and the faith community – regarding the causes and solutions to this problem. Members

of our community go on to become influencers for positive social change, working to overcome maternal death. This page is a space to share experiences and stay updated on the news and events related to safe motherhood within East Africa.

As we mark International Women's Day, we celebrate the strength of women supporting one another for safer motherhood. 💛 Through the STM Seed Fund, women saving groups in Manafwa District help families prepare for childbirth, save for emergencies, and access life-saving maternal health services.
In one case, UGX 85,000 from the group helped a mother reach the hospital quickly during a life-threatening complication.

From community action to health systems leadership, every change project matters.
These community-driven solutions will continue to be part of the conversation at the Save the Mothers Maternal & Child Health Conference 2026, where multidisciplinary partners come together to advance safe motherhood.

📅 Join us at the STM Maternal & Child Health Conference 2026 on 24 April.⏳ Early bird registration closes 15 March
