The Urgent Need for Clean Water in Magoma Village: ECAOUg Calls for Help
In Magoma village, families under the care of Exodus Community Awakening Organisation Uganda (ECAOUg) face a daily crisis that most of us canβt imagine: there is no safe water.
The Current Reality
Right now, our entire community β including children from our orphanage β collects drinking water from open ponds. These same ponds are shared with cattle and collect trench runoff. This water is used for everything: drinking, cooking, bathing, and household chores.
The dangers are twofold. First, the risk to health is severe. Unprotected water exposes families to typhoid, cholera, diarrhea, and parasites. Children are especially vulnerable. Second, the risk to life is real. To collect water, children must bend low at the edge of slippery, deep ponds. Tragically, our community has already lost a child to drowning while fetching water.
Our Solution: A Protected Community Well
ECAOUg is determined to end this cycle of danger. Our goal is to drill a protected community well in Magoma village. This well will serve our orphanage and the surrounding families, giving mothers and children access to clean, safe water close to home.
A well means:
Safety: No more children risking their lives at open ponds
Health: Drastic reduction in waterborne diseases
Dignity: More time for school and work instead of hours spent fetching unsafe water
How You Can Help
