DidYouKnowFriday | Uganda’s Forests in Crisis
Did you know Uganda has lost over 1.16 million hectares of tree cover since 2001 — that’s about 15% of its forest area?
In 2024 alone, Uganda lost 31.9 thousand hectares of natural forest, releasing approximately 15.8 million tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere.
The majority of this loss (97%) occurred within natural forests, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable land use and conservation efforts.
At Daydream , we believe in the power of community action and awareness to protect our environment. While we are still exploring ways to actively participate, we are committed to raising awareness and empowering communities to take action.
Let’s unite to safeguard Uganda’s forests for future generations.
