We recently had the privilege of welcoming an incredible group of visitors who travelled all the way from Perth, Australia. The team brought together members from ‘Without Walls,’ Church (one of our long-standing partners) and ‘Cosmos Alliance,’ whose generous support helps fund our community-based mental health project. Their two-week visit was packed with project visits and engaging training workshops.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team for giving their time to come and be with us, it truly meant a lot and we loved every moment!

✨ Celebrating International Women’s Day! ✨

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women everywhere. From homes to classrooms and communities, women continue to shape our world with courage and commitment.

We also honour the countless women who are not only holding families together, nurturing homes and raising the next generation, but are also the primary breadwinners, working tirelessly to provide, uplift, and create opportunities for those around them.

At JENGA, we see this strength every day. Over 14,000 women are saving and supporting one another through our VSLA groups, enabling them to take small loans to start businesses, support their families, and pay school fees.

Your sacrifices are seen.
Your perseverance is inspiring.
Your impact is undeniable.

Here’s to the women who do it all - and to a world that fully recognises, supports, and celebrates them 🧡

🌟 Meet David 🌟

David grew up in a family of 12 children, where poverty made daily life a struggle. When his mother could no longer provide food for all her children, David was sent away. A heartbreaking reality no child should ever face. 💔

But David’s story didn’t end there.

A member of the JENGA team found him and helped ensure he had a safe place to stay. Through the generous support of JENGA sponsors, David was able to return to school - and he has thrived.

📚✨ He is now in S5 at a local secondary school, and last year his exam results ranked among the very best in all of Mbale.

His dream? To become a doctor. 🩺💙

David’s story is not an isolated one — it reflects the reality faced by many children here in Mbale. But together, we can change that.

If you feel moved to make a difference, you can sponsor a secondary student and help rewrite a child’s future.

💷 Costs start at just £35/$47 per month.

🩺 LOVED Community Health Testing 🧡
Update from :

Yesterday, LOVED hosted a team from the government hospital who provided free health services to 127 people from our community.

Those who attended were offered testing for TB and/or HIV. Anyone who tested positive will be supported by LOVED’s health team to ensure they can access the medication they need from the hospital, and to encourage follow-up appointments and ongoing care.

With Namatala having one of the highest rates of TB, we recognise the importance of playing our part in prevention, education, and treatment - as we work towards seeing our community become a TB-free zone. 🌍✨

Thank you to the hospital team for partnering with us, and to everyone who attended. 🙌

📣News from the prisons we are working with🎉

Inmates at Mbale Main Prisons achieved solid results in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) just released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on January 30, 2026. All 23 male candidates who sat the exams passed, with no failures recorded. Thirteen earned Division 2, six got Division 3, and two secured Division 4.

Top performer Oinyaga Bosco led with an aggregate of 14, followed by Onyunyu Nathan Elvis at 16. Three others tied at aggregate 18: Kadugala Emmanuel Trevor, Namwokoyi Gerald, and Wakinya Patrick Fred - all in Division 2. 🌟 Celebrating 6 Years of Transforming Menstrual & Reproductive Health! 🌟

Over the past 6 years, we’ve been committed to ensuring that girls never miss school because of their periods - and today we’re celebrating just how far this programme has come ❤️

Our Impact So Far:
🏫 7 schools actively running our menstrual health programme
🏥 A fully equipped menstrual health facility in each school
👩🏾‍⚕️ 56 trained counsellors with 1 overseer in every school
🩵 1,580 girls have received packs including reusable pads, a pair of knickers, and soap
📚 3,400 children (ages 10+) trained in reproductive health

Although this programme was meant to be government-financed, national cutbacks meant it was never fully rolled out. But the vision didn’t stop - because partners stepped in.

🌿 A heartfelt thank you to Evergreen Africa for faithfully sponsoring this work and standing with girls in our communities. Your support helps ensure that every girl has the dignity, confidence, and resources she needs to stay in school throughout the month 🧡

✨ Together, we’re building a future where periods do not limit potential

🎉 Farewell to Aidan Patrick - Our Jazz‑Powered Volunteer! 🎉

We’re celebrating (and slightly mourning) one of our long‑term volunteers, Aidan Patrick, who is leaving us for a life of even more caffeine at our founding coffee partner  , where he’ll be their new Chief Roaster. ☕🔥 (Yes… Chief Roaster. He’s finally getting paid to do what he’s been doing to us for years.)

Aidan, we’re really going to miss your unbelievably calm attitude, majestic dance moves and your Quiz Master gifting.

From all of us at JENGA and : thank you for the countless ways you’ve shaped who we are as an organisation. You’ve left fingerprints all over this place - metaphorically, we hope.

And even though you don’t do social media, and don’t like self-promotion... we’re posting this anyway. (Friends please make sure he knows and is suitably embarrassed)

Good luck and God bless you Aidan - may your beans be fresh, your roasts be even, and your jazz forever smooth. 🧡✨

🌟 Celebrating Leadership in Mbale City 🇺🇬

🧡We’re delighted to congratulate JOYCE KIDULU on her election as Mayor of Mbale City. Joyce served with JENGA for four years and helped introduce Wise Choices for Life to Mbale - the first time this programme was run in Uganda.🎉

She is also the first female Mayor since Mbale gained City status - a significant and encouraging milestone for the people and churches of Mbale. We’re grateful for Joyce’s heart and her commitment to bring positive transformation and hope to the city. ✨

🧡We also want to recognise ANTHONY WASUKIRA from Bethel Mooni for his dedication during this election season. Anthony was supported by JENGA through senior school and later helped to establish his small market business.

In his first time standing as a candidate, he finished second out of nine - a strong result and a real testament to his integrity, perseverance and passion.💪

👏 Congratulations Joyce - and well done, Anthony. We honour your service and heart for the community. 🧡

🇳🇱 Honoring Two Visitors from the Netherlands! 🌟

We are deeply grateful for the incredible impact Christine Vis and Elly Plat made during their visit. Their generosity and heart for service blessed thousands in ways that will never be forgotten:

♟️🎲 Fundraised for 132 board games distributed to 44 dorms in 5 prisons, bringing joy to 3,574 inmates during the security lockdown.
📖 Taught leadership, communication, and homiletics to an extended group of 75 students at Soroti Male Prison (from a promised 28!).
🍩Appreciated the entire staff of Maluku Main Prison (225 staff) with a well-deserved donut treat.
🎈Led a powerful session at JENGA’s Monthly Day with the Lord, encouraging us to discover and use our God-given talents. We wrote our top talent on a balloon and held it above our head - a beautiful reminder of why God made us who we are!

Christine and Elly are also good friends of Yvonne, one of our long-term volunteers, and we’re so thankful for the relationships that connect hearts across nations.

Thank you, Christine and Elly, for serving with such joy, generosity, and purpose 🧡
