Reaching Kikobero Cluster

Last week, we distributed 101 water filters to families in the Kikobero Cluster, gathering together at Kikobero Primary School for the exercise.

During the distribution, beneficiaries were trained on:
✓ How to use the water filters correctly
✓ Safe water handling and storage
✓ Backwashing and proper maintenance of the filters

The training aimed to ensure that every household is able to access clean and safe drinking water confidently and sustainably.

We are encouraged by the positive response from the community and grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting families with practical solutions to waterborne diseases.

A heartfelt thank you to WaterMatters for the generous donation of the filters, and to Uganda Concern UK for making this partnership possible.

On 11th April 2026 , we successfully held our Annual General Conference.

The day began with arrival and registration, followed by an opening prayer and introductions that set a warm and united tone for the gathering.

We were welcomed through remarks from LC1 leadership and communication from the chair, which guided us into reviewing the previous AGC minutes. This was followed by key presentations, including the Chairperson’s report, the Treasurer’s report, and updates from the Programmes Director on various community activities.

Members actively participated through responses and discussions, showing strong engagement and commitment to the ministry’s work.

One of the key highlights of the day was the introduction of the Board of Trustees by the UWCM President (Overseer), followed by the nomination and election of new Board Directors who will serve from March 2026 to March 2028.

The conference concluded with remarks from the spiritual leader and the commissioning of the new Board, marking a new chapter of leadership and growth for the ministry.

We thank everyone who attended, contributed, and supported the success of this conference. Together, we continue to move forward with purpose and unity.

Imagine losing your home, your belongings, everything - and still standing up to fight for your community.

Months ago, one of the women leaders at the Bunambutye Resettlement Camp spoke passionately about a simple but powerful dream: a tailoring machine. She explained how it would empower women to make reusable sanitary pads and clothes for their families - a small but mighty step toward self-reliance and dignity.

We listened. And this week, we came back with 2 tailoring machines.

With these machines, the women of Bunambutye won't just survive - they'll create. Reusable sanitary pads. Clothing. A livelihood. A future.

This is what happens when communities speak and people listen. We are deeply grateful to Uganda Concern UK for turning this vision into reality.

Stay with us - there's more to come.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women who continue to transform families and communities every day.

Across Uganda, women are building stronger homes, leading initiatives, and shaping a better future for the next generation. When women are empowered, communities thrive.

Happy International Women's Day!

Today we revisited the Bunambutye Resettlement Camp to continue supporting families affected by the landslides. With the generous support of Uganda Concern UK, we were able to deliver several items requested by the community.

We handed over:

• 2 tailoring machines to support women's skills and future production of reusable sanitary pads and clothing

•14 tennis balls for children to play different games. Although there is no tennis court in the camp, children enjoy using such balls to play a local game called Kwepena - a traditional Ugandan dodgeball-style game where players avoid being hit by two opposite shooters. We noticed many children spend most of their time in the camp because they are unable to attend school due to lack of school materials and the small school fees that many families cannot afford. Providing the balls at least gives them an opportunity for play and activity during the day.

• 9 boxes of soap, which were sliced and distributed directly to tent (house) leaders to ensure families received them quickly. This approach helps avoid delays that sometimes occur when supplies pass through several levels of management.

• 7 Bibles given to the camp religious leader to support spiritual care within the community

• Clothes, 100 kg of rice and 50 kg of sugar and 10 liters of cooking oil.

Unfortunately, our budget did not allow us to bring all the materials needed for making reusable sanitary pads during this visit. However, we have promised to bring them next time. These materials will be sourced from Think Twice, where good-quality second-hand fabrics can be purchased at low cost. Repurposing these materials will also help reduce waste while creating a sustainable solution for women and girls in the camp.

We remain grateful to Uganda Concern UK and all friends who continue to stand with these families. Small acts of support continue to bring hope, dignity, and practical solutions to the community. 💛
