We conducted an engaging and hands-on beekeeping training for our staff including those from the implementing partners, Bungokho Rural Development Center(BRDC) and Mount Elgon Agroforestry communitiesβ cooperative Enterprise (MEACCE).
The training was an important step in building our teamβs knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that staff are well-equipped to support communities with accurate information, confidence, and hands-on guidance. Strengthening internal capacity enables us to deliver more impactful, sustainable, and scalable interventions on the ground.
The session deepened our understanding of how beekeeping fits within climate resilience and environmental conservation efforts.
Beekeeping provides multiple income streams such as honey, beeswax, and other hive products. It offers communities an environmentally friendly and reliable source of income.
Beyond livelihoods, beekeeping plays a vital role in reforestation and ecosystem restoration. Bees are essential pollinators, supporting the regeneration of trees and vegetation, enhancing biodiversity, and improving crop yields. Integrating beekeeping into restoration efforts helps create a balanced relationship between people and nature. Size of Wales Welsh Government
