Anawim Uganda’s mission is to provide Christ centered support to Ugandan youth - to inspire their futures, improve their communities, better their education, & to nurture the spiritual growth of young Catholic leaders. The pig program has so much potential! It will provide much-needed protein for hungry children in the local villages. Training given to local families in preparation for receiving a
pig of their own will teach them about animal husbandry, personal health and hygiene, and food safety. And the community’s standard of living will be improved when recipient families have additional income to pay school fees, buy school supplies or other essentials. Futbol:
The Bishop’s Cup is an ecumenical soccer league started by Fr. Michael that provides the youth of the Diocese of Masaka a rare opportunity to play the sport they love in organized and well managed games. This teaches the youth sportsmanship, brotherhood, discipline and team building in a safe Christian environment, while giving communities positive centers of pride. Thirty seven teams competed last year, and our goal is to develop a league in every parish of the Masaka Diocese. This project is dependent upon financial donations and gifts of soccer equipment and team jerseys. Catechesis:
This is a vast and varying project that includes Art4God children's art camps, Father's music ministry, and the Delta Center. Michael’s rectory, a large educational center, our peer-to-peer evangelists, and a dormitory. These facilities and team members are critical to Fr. Michael’s ongoing youth ministry. They offer a beautiful setting for frequent spiritual retreats, seminars, and training classes that are held onsite. Art 4 God, a week long children’s art camp held at the Delta Center, has been so successful that there are plans to offer two one-week sessions this year, allowing twice as many children to participate
