We have an update on Sarah! We’re happy to report that she has been located and is currently undergoing treatment for the compound fracture in her leg. Due to the severity of the injury, Richard will be taking her to see a specialist in the nearby city of Masaka on a weekly basis until they see marked improvement. While Sarah has a long road ahead, thanks to your generous donations, Taasa will be able to support her every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

Taasa Health has broken ground on our maternity center in Kbisi! This is a huge step forward in providing vital maternal services to women in more than 17 villages in the Kalungu district, where the most common method of delivery is home birth without a trained medical professional present. In addition to standard obstetric care, the facility will include a surgical room for pregnancies that develop complications requiring emergency care.

We are so grateful to everyone in the Taasa community who has contributed so far to this initiative. If you would like to make a donation toward the construction or outfitting of the maternity center, we are sharing here the ways in which your money helps. Donations can be made directly through our website (taasahealth.org). Thank you so much for your continued support - we couldn’t do it without you!

Thanks so much for everyone’s generous donations toward Sarah’s surgery. We wanted to share an update on her situation, which unfortunately is not yet resolved. Despite our efforts to get Sarah to Masaka for her procedure, we have been unable to reach or locate her family. Taasa is actively working with community leaders to find Sarah, and we remain committed to getting her the lifesaving care she needs. We are hopeful we can locate her soon and, thanks to your help, are prepared to bring her to the hospital as soon as we do. We will provide another update as soon as possible and appreciate your continued support and concern for Sarah and the Taasa community.

Taasa Health’s Kalungu clinic is now equipped with a handheld ultrasound machine! This technology gives us the ability to do OB scans to confirm things such as age, head position, and fetal heart tone/rate, as well as rule out deadly disorders like ectopic pregnancies. Other uses include checking valve and heart function, mass identification, IV access, and detecting internal bleeding. This is a big step forward in our efforts to expand our maternal services and diagnostic capabilities. Thanks to all of our generous donors who made this possible!

Today with TAASA Health:

While visiting a local school to provide education and distribute essential supplies like menstrual kits and soap, we noticed a young girl who didn’t look well. The head teacher allowed her to walk back with us to the clinic where She was diagnosed with malaria and treated promptly.

She also had no shoes—something so basic, yet so important. Thanks to donated supplies, we were able to give her a pair.

Without access to care, this could have ended very differently. Malaria is still a leading cause of death in children here, and situations like this happen every day.

Your support makes moments like this possible. Every donation helps us reach more children, provide critical treatment, and deliver basic necessities that many go without.

Thank you for being part of this mission 💛

Meet Sarah, a young girl with cerebral palsy who visited the Kalungu clinic earlier today. As Dr. Ted explains, she is in need of surgery to fix a compound fracture in her leg, but her family cannot afford the procedure (approximately $700). Without surgery, the injury is likely to be fatal. Please donate today to help Sarah get the lifesaving procedure she needs (link is in bio). Thank you for your help!
