We had an amazing time with the lightup impact community at cardinal nsubuga leadership training institute Nsambya in Uganda capital Kampala, where founders of grassroot organization met.

The event brought passionate founders of grassroot organization from Kenya and Uganda. It was a great day filled with networking, exchange of experience, and lively discussions that will help to drive positive change in our community.

It was a testament to the power of unity and shared vision. Together we are strong and more impactful.

In celebration of the international women's day celebration, Smile Always Uganda Foundation SAUF in partnership with and Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council and solidLinks initiative for development conducted a marathon that aimed at raising funds to buy materials to train vulnerable girls on how to make reusable sanitary pads.
We thank all people who took part in the marathon and the celebrations that took place at Mpondwe primary school. Our sincere thanks to the state minister for ICT and national guidance Hon Kabyanga who was our chief runner.

In celebration of the 2024 international women's day, Smile Always Uganda Foundation (SAUF) in partnership with Usanii Village African and Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, is running a marathon that seeks to advocate for the empowerment of girls through dignity with a major focus on including men as advocates for menstrual equity. This is held in line with the international theme "inspire inclusion" with an aim to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women and young girls

According to a meniscus report by the BioMedical center, when girls in Uganda are on their period, absenteeism is at 28% compared to 7% during non period days. Stigma attached to menstruation or the inability to afford period products stop girls from going to school, putting them more at a risk of entering child marriages, experiencing an early pregnancy, malnourishment, domestic violence, and pregnancy complications.

The fundraiser aims to tackle menstrual hygiene challenges faced by vulnerable girls by engaging men as advocates for change. The primary goal is to rally men to raise funds for providing sanitary pads to girls without access, fostering menstrual equity, and empowering them to pursue education uninterrupted.

Secure your participation by purchasing tickets at Ugx 20,000 each, each of which include an exclusive branded bib for the run
With a goal of selling at least 2000 tickets, every ticket sold correspond to a reusable sanitary kit for a girl, ensuring worry free periods for the next 12 months
