U6s all chasing the ball at once?
Good, that’s exactly what they’re meant to do.
At that age, the ball is the game. They’re not being “wrong” they’re showing enthusiasm, curiosity, and a natural desire to be involved.
The problem isn’t that they all go to the ball it's when we expect them not to.
Instead of trying to stop it, shape it.
Think of it like pepperoni on a pizza. If all the pepperoni is piled on one side, most of the pizza is empty and no one really enjoys it.
Spread it out, and suddenly every bite is better.
Same with your players when they begin to spread (even a little), everyone gets more of the game.
You’re not coaching positions at U6, you’re growing confidence and love for the game.
Spacing, awareness, decision-making, that all comes later.
Right now?
Let them chase and get as many touches of a ball as possible.
