Today is Africa Day!

This year’s theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” reminds us that clean water and safe sanitation are essential for Africa’s future.

At YALDA, we believe young people must lead sustainable, community-driven solutions across the continent.

Happy Africa Day!

WHO WE ARE?

From a vision shared by African students at Harvard University in 2004 to a continental movement empowering young leaders across Africa, Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa continues to inspire transformation through youth leadership and action.

Originally established as the Harvard African Students Association (HASA), the organization quickly recognized a powerful truth: young people are not just future leaders they are leaders today. This inspired the transition to YALDA in May 2004, reflecting a mission centered on leadership, development, and impact across Africa.

Today, YALDA has grown into a dynamic network with branches in 23 African Union Member States, including chapters at Harvard University and University of Oxford. Through issue-based initiatives, partnerships, and youth-driven programs, YALDA continues to build the capacity of young Africans to become catalysts for Africa’s transformation.

YALDA believes:
If Youth Envision, Professionals Assist, Africa is Transformed!
