Violent extremism does not begin with violence alone. It grows where exclusion, mistrust, misinformation, injustice, fear, and vulnerability are left unaddressed.
Safer and more resilient communities are built through daily actions of political leaders, security actors, faith & cultural leaders, civil society, businesses, media, families, and communities.
Through the Peace Beyond Borders Project, implemented in partnership with Pole Institute and the Kofi Annan Foundation, and funded by the European Commission we are sharing simple and practical minimum practices that different actors can integrate into their daily roles to strengthen community resilience and reduce vulnerability to violent extremism.
These practices promote trust, dignity, inclusion, early warning, responsible communication, support for victims and survivors, and collective action for peace and security.
