The ministry is especially intended to address the needs of children in Jjeza village especially in terms of health and education, due to AIDS scourge and poverty in this village which problems have increased the number of orphans and disadvantaged children and or worsening their condition of living. However, the major goal of this ministry is to help disadvantaged children get an opportunity to b
e exposed to Christian values, live a better life, study for self sustenance and NOT become dependants on the community they live in. BACK GROUND
Brief description of Afaayo Ministries Limited Uganda (Jjeza Village)
In Uganda, most orphaned children are as a result of HIV/AIDS, death/illness of parents. Moreover with rampant poverty, these orphans can’t care for themselves. Old people are often left to care for them and cannot. These children, apart from failure to be able to raise school fees (tuitions) are also unable to meet their basic needs, food, shelter, medical care and basic needs. Afaayo Ministries Limited Uganda therefore was founded as response to these problems faced by orphans and vulnerable children. The Ministry was set up to give a hope to the lives of these children, to provide their tuition to pay their education, to give them relevance in life, providing them not just a balanced diet that gives them resistance to diseases, but also providing some good shelter is a primary ministry. Responding to their ailments/sickness through medical care and counseling is also part of the mission. Indeed the ministry tries to help in situations so that they are able to overcome them. At Afaayo Ministries precious children find a place of hope, love, safety and opportunity. Every child in the Ministry is a story of God's incredible pursuit to care for the least of these. Each child is redeemed for a purpose and given hope. The children find family and love that will not leave them isolated and helpless. Despite government’s efforts to enable everybody access education through introducing universal primary education(UPE) some children in Jjeza village failed to continue with education because they can’t afford scholastic materials such as uniforms, books, pencils, feeding and other necessities that are required. Even at secondary level much as the government has tried by introducing universal secondary education(USE), still some children especially orphans and needy are unable to go school like their counter parts at the primary level because they can’t afford the basic necessities of life. However, our Ministry’s intention is to supplement the government’s effort of helping orphans and the needy. Through commitment, devotion and determination, this Ministry is now helping over 100 children out of the large number of orphans and disadvantaged children in Jjeza village, We shelter 20 children who Orphans and abandoned by their relatives. The rest needy children come from our community and join us at our Orphanage so that their needs can be met and even know more about Christ’s love . If more funding was available, more children would be helped. Goals of the Ministry Objectives and activities:
• To support orphans and other vulnerable children to acquire education through sponsorship.
• To assist the poor and needy children with the basic needs including shelter, food and clothing.
• To expose the children to Christian values and truths.
• To reach out to the poor, needy and vulnerable people through outreach
programs.
• To encourage young people to discover their natural and God given abilities
and use them to serve God and also develop themselves by using the same to earn a living. Activities
• Pay school fees, uniforms and other scholastic materials.
• Organize meetings with the guardians, committee and Local leaders.
• Sheltering the orphans and vulnerable children.
• To support orphans and vulnerable children.
• Identify orphans and other vulnerable children.
• Take their pictures.
• Update their profiles.
• Provide food to the needy children on a daily basis.
• To assist the orphans and vulnerable children to acquire education in the
village.
• Organize an Easter and Christmas party for the children.
• Provide health seminars and counseling.
• Reaching out to vulnerable families with food.
• Giving out sanitary pads
