Frames from Earthflow & Beatmotion 🌍🎶

A three-hour journey into movement, voice, rhythm and connection, led by Toussaint To Move , Jamaican, London-based multidisciplinary performer, creator and Artistic Director of Toussaint To Move.

Hosted in the UNCC Auditorium, the workshop invited us to explore Earthflow, Toussaint To Move s’ evolving physical practice rooted in Caribbean Dance, Contemporary Dance, Capoeira, Hip Hop, Yoga and Kick Boxing.

We activated the spine, explored flow and expanded how we move through space before bringing voice and musicality into the room through Beatmotion, an improvisation practice drawing from jazz, beatbox and vocal improvisation.

Through the six S’s, Silence, Stillness, Sensation, Speed, Speech & Story — we explored how movement can speak, sing and create music in real time.

A space to listen, play, challenge our comfort zones and move together. 🌍🌀🎶

Every artist has a moment that shifts their perspective.
For SHANTA, that moment began with being cast in Gemine, choreographed by Catherine Nakawesa. In this conversation, she reflects on the experience of working with Catherine, the lessons she gained through the creative process, and how that collaboration continues to shape her journey as a dance artist. Every environment has a story waiting to be discovered.

This week at PCCP Uganda , our young stars explored their surroundings through movement, music, writing, and critical thinking. She’s Graphical s’ grounding invocation prepared both body and mind then after we turned our favourite fruits into playful rhythms in our ”Cocktail” exercise.

Through a free writing session with Onegu-Rwoth , the young stars reflected on the people and objects around them. Later with Cyubahiro Prince , they deepened their environmental awareness by identifying and separating organic and non-organic materials.

We believe that creativity is a pathway to learning. Through our outreach programme, we continue to create safe spaces where young stars build confidence, think critically, and grow together through non-formal learning.

Thank you to People Concern Children’s Project (PCCP Uganda ), our facilitators, partners, and supporters for making this journey a reality. Together, we’re nurturing the next generation of creative changemakers.

Small actions. Lasting impact. ♻️🌍
In 2021, through GlobalLab2, we turned plastic waste into sustainable trash bins with Pick Up Plastic & the community we shared space with Sosolya Undugu Dance — & proving that the best solutions come from within our communities.

What made this project special? It was entirely youth-led. From identifying the problem to creating the solution, young people took the lead and inspired change.

We believe empowered youth don’t just shape the future—they transform the present.

Creating leaders. Building communities. Driving sustainable change.

Another Week PCCP Uganda with our P.3 young stars where we stepped into a journey of movement led by facilitator Naggita Martha, discovering how the body can remember, imagine, and tell stories rooted in their environment. Through play, invocation, and creative exploration, they learned that every gesture carries meaning and every movement has a voice.

These are the moments where confidence takes shape, community grows stronger, and creativity becomes a language of belonging.

We wish you’all joy, love, and the courage to move through the world with intention. Together, we’re nurturing a more cohesive community through the arts, non-formal learning, and shared human experiences.

As part of our outreach programme, our young stars PCCP Uganda are given real responsibilities that help them build confidence, accountability, and a sense of ownership. Each week, one young star takes on the important role of recording attendance during our workshop, learning what it means to lead by serving others.

These frames capture our routine check-in. They capture confidence being built, responsibility being embraced, and young leaders discovering their potential.

Every opportunity is a step towards raising a generation of confident, responsible, and compassionate leaders who will make a lasting impact in their communities.

Today’s small responsibilities are shaping tomorrow’s great leaders.

Finding the courage to speak begins with creating a space where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.

This session from the outreach programme PCCP Uganda began with a powerful check-in, followed by trust-building activities that strengthened friendships and reminded our young stars that confidence grows through connection. Through an engaging Alien Translator game, our young stars discovered the importance of clear communication, active listening, and creativity.

Building the stories they wrote in the previous session, the young stars challenged themselves to read their work aloud before their peers, developing voice projection, public speaking skills, and the confidence to own their unique stories.

As the session came to a close, Edgar Kanyike encouraged them to reflect on a thought-provoking Take away question to explore in the next session: “What in my environment shouldn’t be there, and what is there that should never be removed?” A reminder that creative writing is also about observing the world, thinking critically, and imagining positive change.

Every voice shared is another step toward nurturing confident, compassionate, and creative young leaders.

Another week of growth, imagination, and discovery PCCP Uganda with our Outreach Programme.
This week, our young stars explored the environment through the power of visual arts, storytelling, and reflection alongside our incredible facilitators Prince Kulture , Shamsa , and Naggita Martha .
With Shamsa , they imagined and sketched the kind of environment they dream of living in—transforming their observations into creative stories filled with hope and practical solutions.
With Naggita Martha , they reflected on the world around them through their senses:
“I see... I smell... I hear... I touch...” before imagining themselves as nature by completing the thought, “If I were a tree...”These simple prompts opened space for empathy, observation, and self-expression.
With Prince Kulture , our young stars continued to deepen their understanding of the environment from new perspectives, using visual art as a tool for critical thinking and creativity.
Every drawing, every story, and every shared reflection reminds us that we are not only learning about the world—we are imagining how to care for it.
We remain grateful to our facilitators, partners, and the young stars whose curiosity continues to inspire our community every week.

Different perspectives. One shared journey of growth

Frames from Week 3 of our Outreach Programme at PCCP with Edgar Kanyike , this began with a powerful begging into a grounding invocation led by Prince, creating a mindful space before our young stars stepped into a still-life drawing session guided by Prince.

Through the simple act of sketching the same table from different seating positions, our young stars discovered that every perspective tells a unique story. As they strengthened the artistic techniques introduced in previous sessions, they also learned to observe with intention, appreciate diverse viewpoints, and express their creativity with confidence.

These moments are a reminder that art can be a pathway to critical thinking, self-expression, and community leadership.
