The Goat Project Uganda

The Goat Project Uganda The Goat Project Uganda: Empowering the most vulnerable women in rural Uganda by gifting them with goats to rear. One life at a time; One goat at a time

The Goat Project Uganda was founded in November 2011 as a revolving scheme aimed at economically empowering disadvantaged women (especially widows and other poorest women) to improve their quality of life and of their families by giving them goats to rear. A beneficiary rears her she-goat till she has a total of at least 7 goats. She then gives back into the Project two goats which are regifted

to other beneficiaries in the community, and she remains with 5 or more goats. She can then sell the goats and buy a cow, or land, or start a small business, or educate her children or build a better house for her family, or continue to grow her herd so she becomes a major goat farmer. The Project is very viable because of it's very low management cost and guaranteed sustainability. Since the project started, 1,124 women in 71 Ugandan communities have benefited . Our goal is to reach 10,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2027. If you would like to donate a goat or learn more about the project, leave a message here or email me at: [email protected]. Our Story

The Goat Project Uganda was founded in November 2011 and started formally operating in January 2013, as a revolving scheme aimed at economically empowering the most disadvantaged women (especially widows and other poorest women) in rural communities, to improve their quality of life and of their families by giving them goats to rear. A beneficiary rears her she-goat and must give back to the Project two kids so they can be given to other beneficiaries in the community. The beneficiary continues to rear her goat till it reproduces to a herd of at least 5 and then she takes complete ownership. She can then sell the goats and buy a cow, or land, or start a small business, or educate her children or continue to grow her herd so she becomes a major goat farmer. The Project is very viable because of its very low cost and guaranteed totally sustainability. Since the project started, over 750 women in 51 Ugandan communities have benefited . Our goal is to give out at least 10,000 goats to new beneficiaries in the next 7 years

On this page we keep you updated on the latest developments and achievements in the Project. Over the last few years, we have registered tremendous impacts such as our graduated beneficiaries paying school dues for their children, building houses, buying cows, buying lands, starting small businesses, and a few have opted to become small commercial goat farmers - all starting with the one goat we donated to them.
