This week, our Personal Initiative Training (PIT) continues to be at the heart of the Jenga Jamaa Project. On Tuesday, 14th April 2026, the Day 2 after a week of orientation, we witnessed powerful moments of learning, reflection, and growth during our group work sessions.

Participants engaged deeply, some shaping ideas from scratch, others strengthening already existing businesses. What stood out most were the meaningful discussions around proactive vs. reactive behaviors, a critical mindset shift for any entrepreneur aiming to thrive in today’s dynamic environment.

Entrepreneurship today demands more than just ideas, it requires the courage to step out of comfort zones, take initiative, and act intentionally.

We are proud of the commitment shown, no excuse on the rain, as they embrace transformation, challenge their limits, and build a future driven by purpose and action.

This Monday at YAREN Organization marked another impactful step in our Entrepreneurship Program.

We explored key topics on self-starting and future-oriented thinking, equipping participants with the mindset needed to grow sustainable ventures. The Personal Initiative Training is part of the training modules to be covered.

In a complementary session, our Programmes Director Mr. Newton Balenzi shared valuable insights on doing business within the East African Community and across Africa, highlighting how young people can attract opportunities and build impactful enterprises as Pan African.

This is just the beginning, with 6 more weeks to go. We are confident this journey will contribute meaningfully to community transformation.

During the English training session, we brought together inspiring mothers committed to improving their communication skills, alongside their children who joined them in the learning space. It was a beautiful and meaningful moment of connection, where education met family, and learning became a collective experience.

As the session unfolded, participants actively engaged in practical lessons, building confidence in speaking, writing, and understanding English. The presence of children added warmth and encouragement, creating a supportive environment that reflects our belief that empowerment starts at home and grows within communities.

At YAREN Organisation, we believe that when a mother learns, an entire family benefits. By opening our doors to both parents and children, we are not only sharing knowledge but also nurturing resilience, confidence, and future opportunities. These children are not at school due to hardship faced by their parents to support them.

This moment captures our young women entrepreneurs during the Jenga Jamaa Entrepreneurship First Cohort engaged, focused, and determined to grow. Through interactive exercises and short guided interviews, participants are not only learning but actively applying entrepreneurial thinking in real time.

In a supportive and collaborative environment, ideas are shared, skills are strengthened, and confidence is built. Peer learning and mentorship remain at the heart of our approach, ensuring that every participant is guided, heard, and empowered.

We are proud to create safe and practical learning spaces where young women can sharpen their vision, develop their businesses, and take bold steps toward self-reliance.

The training was successfully conducted on 26th January 2026 by Muganuzi M. Adonis, Founder and Executive Director of YAREN Organisation, and co-facilitated by 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐮 𝐊𝐮𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐨.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬

The sessions were intensive, practical, and inclusive, covering:

Business mapping and market understanding
Book-keeping and financial record management
Market information and decision-making
Business planning, goal setting, and evaluation
Entrepreneurial mindset, personal initiative, and Resilience

Through participatory methods, group work, case studies, and practical workshops, more than 79 participants across different learning levels were engaged, with sessions delivered in both English and simplified approaches to ensure equitable learning for all. Participants demonstrated strong engagement, openly identifying their business strengths and gaps, and committing to apply the lessons in their daily enterprises.
