**Understanding a space is the first step towards transforming it. **

Today, we conducted site measurements at the Kitintale Public Space under the Youth Water Stewardship Project to support community-led planning and climate-responsive public space improvements.

Thoughtful planning today helps build safer, inclusive and more climate-resilient communities for tomorrow.

*Due diligence is key when it comes to creating sustainable impact.*

This week, as part of the Youth City Program’s Entrepreneurship support initiative,we were in Nakawa Division identifying and engaging young entrepreneurs with innovative businesses and strong potential for growth.

Through the program, we are looking to support selected youth entrepreneurs with business equipment to help strengthen and scale up their businesses, increase income and sales, and create opportunities for other young people within their communities.

At NAC, we believe in “microgrants for macro impact” because investing in young entrepreneurs is investing in resilient communities and sustainable urban livelihoods.

If you know a young person in Nakawa Division, Kampala with a promising business that could benefit from this opportunity, comment below this post and we will reach out to you.

As urban planners, are we actually designing cities, or just fixing problems we never fully understood?

That question felt even more real today at the World Urban Forum, during a HerCity session with Dreamtown and Holistic Actions for Development and Empowerment.

we explored what it really takes to move from assumption to understanding: listening to communities, sharing decision-making power, and using digital tools that reveal real needs and proximity challenges on the ground.

Because if people are left out of the process, we don’t get inclusive cities : we get cities designed for only a few.

Public spaces are not just physical spaces ,they are powerful platforms that promote social inclusion, community engagement, safety, wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. When integrated into urban planning and city design, they contribute greatly to building safer, healthier, greener, and more resilient communities.

While attending the World Urban Forum in Baku, we continue to emphasize the importance of investing in green cities and strengthening policies that support sustainable urban development and climate justice.

As delegates, stakeholders, and partners from across the world gather to discuss the future of our cities, one thing remains clear, the future of urban development must be inclusive, climate-responsive, and people-centered.

Together, we commit to advancing actions that create cities that are livable, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of both present and future generations.
