Hello world. We are the Animal Welfare Alliance of Uganda and this is just the beginning. 🐾
We wish our first post could be a simple hello. But 56 animals are counting on us, so instead we’re jumping straight in with something that matters deeply to our hearts.
Stsrtong on May 10th, our team rescued 52 dogs and 6 cats from two illegal shelters in Mityana, victims of a scam network that was exposed by the BBC. One of the lead scammers is now in prison, with trial set for May 28. And in the most beautiful twist, 13 puppies have been born to two of our rescued mothers since the rescue.
There is still so much work ahead medical care, rehabilitation, and finding every one of these animals a forever home. But today, they are safe. And that is everything.
Our Board Secretary Meg shares a personal, honest update on how these days have gone. We hope it moves you the way it moves us every single day.
