In Mali, access to health care, legal support, and safe spaces is uneven, particularly for women living in rural areas or affected by displacement. Gaps in comprehensive legislation further complicate efforts to ensure justice and protection, placing greater importance on community-based responses and trusted sources of information.
The HérÚ project places gender equality at its core, with a focus on women whose voices are often least heard, including those who are displaced, living with disabilities, or underserved in Sikasso, Ségou, Mopti, and Bamako.
Radio plays a critical role in this context. Farm Radio International contributes to HérÚ by supporting interactive radio programming that reflects community priorities, amplifies local voices, and creates space for discussion around sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence grounded in lived experience and shaped by the realities of the communities themselves.
