Even in times of war, investment follows the future of energy. And that future is Africa.
Despite global instability and the ripple effects of the Iran-related conflict on energy markets, one trend remains clear: capital continues to flow into renewable energy and increasingly, into Africa.
Recent data shows that over $100 billion has already been invested by Gulf countries in renewable energy projects across the continent. This is not incidental. It reflects a growing recognition of Africaโs central role in the global energy transition.
The drivers are clear:
๐Africaโs energy demand is rising fast.
๐Its renewable potential solar, wind, green hydrogen is among the highest in the world.
๐And the global transition simply cannot happen without it.
But this momentum raises a critical question:
Will Africa shape the transition or simply supply it?
Because while investment is growing, it remains uneven. Large-scale projects often move forward, but local energy access, community benefits, and long-term ownership are still not guaranteed.
