SCMIA is an acronym for Save the Child and Mother Initiative Africa. S — Save

S.C.M.I.A is an organization basing in Uganda that aims at preventing maternal mortality caused by pregnancy complications and childbirth in Uganda. Most of these deaths can be prevented if pregnant women can receive the right medical att

ention for the pregnancy and while giving birth. However, other factors like unsafe abortions, infections after childbirth, severe bleeding, dystocia and high blood pressure all contribute to maternal mortality. At times, childbirth can as well be quite a challenge to mothers in better circumstances, but imagine childbirth for mothers living a poverty life, have no access to proper health care, and lack education. To such women pregnancy and childbirth is a matter of life or death. Accurate figures revealing the maternal mortality can only be best done in a noble country, while, in developing countries like Uganda these deaths are likely to be underreported. Therefore, S.C.M.I is in place to also reach out to those women for example in deep villages that die in the childbirth process or die due to dystocia and not reported. MISSION: To extend a helping hand to the vulnerable and less privileged pregnant and post birth mothers.
