Oprah Winfrey is one of the most famous and successful women in the world today, but her childhood was very difficult.
1. Poor Childhood
Oprah was born on January 29, 1954, in Mississippi, USA. She grew up in extreme poverty.
She lived with her grandmother.
Sometimes they did not have enough food.
She even wore clothes made from potato sacks because they were very poor.
2. Difficult Early Life
When Oprah was still young, she moved to live with her mother in a poor neighborhood. Life was not easy and she faced many struggles during her childhood.

Oprah loved reading, speaking, and learning.
She did very well in school.
