As we continue to celebrate all courageous women all around the world, today Ekisa Refugee Care visited few women in Masanafu Biira a few kilometres away from Kampala for counselling and shared words of encouragement.

Together we uplift

Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we at Ekisa Refugee Care stand in honor of the incredible strength, resilience, and courage of women everywhere — especially the refugee women and girls who continue to rise above unimaginable challenges.

At Ekisa Refugee Care, we have witnessed firsthand what true strength looks like.

It looks like a mother who has fled conflict but still wakes up every morning determined to provide for her children.
It looks like a young girl who refuses to give up on her education despite displacement.
It looks like women rebuilding their lives in new communities while carrying the weight of survival — yet still choosing hope.

Today, we celebrate these women.

We celebrate the women who have lost homes but not their dignity.
We celebrate the women who have faced hardship but not lost their voice.
We celebrate the women who transform pain into purpose and crisis into courage.

Our mission at Ekisa Refugee Care is rooted in compassion — because we believe that restoring dignity is the first step toward restoring hope. And when a woman’s dignity is protected, an entire community becomes stronger.

International Women’s Day reminds us that empowerment is not optional — it is essential.

It means ensuring access to education for every refugee girl.
It means creating safe spaces for women to grow and lead.
It means supporting mothers, widows, and young women with opportunities for self-reliance.
It means standing against all forms of violence and inequality.

When we support women, we are not just offering aid — we are investing in the future.

Today, we renew our commitment to walk alongside refugee women and girls — to listen to their stories, to amplify their voices, and to help transform their journeys from crisis to hope.

To every woman we serve and every woman who serves alongside us:
You are strong.
You are valued.
You are powerful.
And your story matters.

From all of us at Ekisa Refugee Care — Happy International Women’s Day.

Together, we continue changing stories through compassion.

Thank you.

As Ekisa Refugee Care visited Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, located in Kyegegwa District, Western Uganda, hosts over 130,000 refugees mostly from the DRC. Currently facing severe crisis caused by reduced funding, which is straining resources for food, education, and security.

Our presence made a huge impact on these folks, as we brought a message of hope and compassion and shared the little that we had, their appreciation was very touching, and our goal is to continue to provide education, counselling and advocacy for all.
