The Church of Uganda’s Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT) Begins Strategic Evaluation and Planning Retreat for 2027.

MUDUMA – The Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT), the socio-economic development arm of the Church of Uganda, has today commenced a three-day evaluation and planning retreat at the Lakes of Grace Resort in Muduma.

The meeting, running from Tuesday, 6 October to Thursday, 8 October 2026, focuses on reviewing the Directorate's impactful czommunity work in 2026 and shaping its strategic priorities for 2027.

Led by the Director of HCT, Rev. Andrew Agaba, the retreat unites staff from the Provincial Secretariat with teams from its key socio-economic institutions, including the Lweza Training and Conference Centre and the Bbira Vocational Training Institute.

As the development vehicle of the Church of Uganda, HCT is mandated to improve livelihoods, build capacity, and foster community resilience across the country. This retreat serves as a critical forum to:

β€’ Evaluate Community Impact: Review 2026 progress in grassroots development projects, vocational training, and economic empowerment initiatives.

β€’ Align Institutional Mandates: Coordinate the efforts of specialized arms like Bbira (skills development) and Lweza (hospitality and training) to maximize their contribution to the Church’s holistic ministry.

Strategize for 2027: Address operational challenges and formulate a unified, data-driven approach to social development in the coming year.

The gathering combines deep reflection with forward planning, ensuring that the Church of Uganda remains a robust and effective catalyst for socio-economic transformation in Uganda.

πŸ—οΈ The COU-Zimba Lweza Project Takes Shape β€” First Building Now at Finishing Level! πŸ™

What began as a bold vision is now standing tall before our very eyes. We give all glory and honour to God, who has brought us this far β€” step by step, brick by brick β€” to reach this remarkable milestone in the journey of transforming Lweza into a world-class Training and Conference Centre.

This moment would not have been possible without YOU. To every individual, Diocese, institution, and partner who has given β€” whether through finances, fervent prayers, wise counsel, or quiet encouragement β€” we say THANK YOU. Your sacrifice and generosity have been the very foundation upon which this building now stands. God sees every gift, and He rewards faithfulness.

As we move into this final, crucial stretch, the vision before us is clear: a first-class facility equipped with modern accommodation, conference spaces, and training amenities β€” a home for ministry, leadership development, and community transformation for generations of the Church of Uganda to come.

But the journey is not yet complete, and we cannot finish this race alone.
We humbly appeal to you β€” our faithful partners, Christians, and well-wishers β€” to continue standing with us. Partner with us financially as we push towards completion. Partner with us spiritually, holding this project up in prayer, that God's hand of favour and provision continues to rest upon it.

Every shilling given, every prayer lifted, moves us one step closer to turning this dream into a living, breathing reality that will serve the Church and the nation for years to come.

Together, as one Body in Christ, we CAN finish this. Together, we WILL finish this. πŸ™Œ
πŸ‘‰ See the flier below for payment details on how you can give towards the COU-Zimba Lweza Project.

Let's finish strong. Let's build this legacy together.

May God bless you abundantly for your generosity and faithfulness. πŸ™βœ¨

Day two and final day of the ARDF-supported emergency food distribution in Karamoja Diocese has come to a close.

Today's distribution took place in Loletekia Village, Nadunget Sub County, Moroto District, where 250 households received emergency food aid, bringing this phase of the intervention to a successful conclusion.

Over the two days, the Church Of Uganda, in partnership with the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF), reached a total of 500 women-headed households across Nakonyen Village in Tapac Sub County, RTC Village in Moroto Town, and Loletekia Village in Nadunget Sub County β€” delivering 13,000kg of posho, 5,000kg of beans and 500kg of salt to families facing the ongoing hunger crisis in the Karamoja Sub-region.

This intervention specifically prioritised women-headed households, recognising the heightened vulnerabilities they face during this period of food insecurity.

We extend our deep gratitude to the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF) for this timely partnership and continued commitment to walking alongside the people of Karamoja Diocese. This response forms part of the Church of Uganda's wider, sustained effort to address the hunger crisis across the Karamoja Sub-region.

We continue to pray for the women and families of Karamoja Diocese, and for God's continued provision and resilience over this community.

The Church Of Uganda, in partnership with the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF), has kicked off emergency food distribution in Karamoja Diocese, reaching out to vulnerable households affected by the prolonged hunger crisis in the Karamoja Sub-region in Moroto District.

The intervention is targeting 500 households, with each household receiving 25kg of posho, 10kg of beans and 1kg of salt to help address immediate food needs.
In total, the consignment comprises 13,000kg of posho, 5,000kg of beans and 500kg of salt β€” a timely response aimed at cushioning families as they navigate the ongoing food insecurity affecting communities across the region.

This distribution builds on the Church's continued humanitarian response in Karamoja, following earlier interventions in North Karamoja Diocese and Karamoja Diocese carried out in partnership with ACT Alliance and RACOBAO. Together, these efforts reflect the Church of Uganda's unwavering commitment to translating Christian compassion into direct, practical action for communities facing hardship.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF) for this partnership and for standing with the people of Karamoja Diocese during this critical time. May this support bring relief to affected families and strengthen the hope of communities working towards recovery and resilience.

We continue to pray for the people of Karamoja and appeal for continued support from partners, well-wishers, and the wider Church family as we walk this journey together.

A FIVE DAYS TRAINING OF TRAINERS OF TRAINEES IN FOUNDATIONS FOR FARMING OFFICIALLY OPENED BY THE CHURCH OF UGANDA PROVINCIAL SECRETARY.

Central Buganda Diocese, 25th August 2026

A five days training of Trainees in Foundations for Farming (FFF) Training of Trainees, organised by the Church Of Uganda Provincial Secretariat through the Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT), was officially opened by the Provincial Secretary, Rev. Can. William Ongeng, at Lakes of Grace Resort, Buyala, Central Buganda Diocese.

The five-day training, running from 24th to 28th August 2026, has been organised in partnership with Crown Financial Ministries (CFM)and Foundations for Farming international facilitated by Bridge to Rwanda (B2R) Farms., and brings together 20 Household and Community Transformation (HCT) Coordinators drawn from 12 Dioceses, alongside staff of the HCT Directorate.

In his opening remarks, Rev. Can. William Ongeng commended the partners, Crown Financial Ministries, Foundations for Farming and Bridge to Rwanda Farms, for their continued investment in equipping the Church's HCT officers with practical, sustainable farming skills. He noted that this partnership reflects a shared commitment to transforming livelihoods at the grassroots level.

He challenged the TOT's to fully embrace the training, emphasising that the knowledge gained should not remain theoretical. He urged participants to practice what they will learn, noting that trainers who model the principles of Foundations for Farming in their own gardens and communities will be far more effective and credible when passing on these skills to others.

He further recommended that, beyond their home Dioceses, the trained officers be allowed to extend this knowledge to Dioceses that are not currently represented at the training. He noted that this would widen the impact of the programme and ensure that more communities across the Church of Uganda benefit from conservation-based, sustainable agricultural practices.

The training continues through Friday, equipping participants with the core principles of Foundations for Farming, including sustainable agriculture, leadership, and community mobilisation, in preparation for their role as Trainers of Trainees (ToT) within their respective Dioceses.

As the training progresses, the Church of Uganda reaffirms its commitment to translating Christian compassion into practical, sustainable action β€” empowering communities not just to receive support, but to build lasting resilience and self-reliance through knowledge, skill, and faith in action.

Day three marks the end of the Karamoja food relief distribution exercise, with 375 beneficiaries reached in Central Division and 375 in Northern Division of Kotido Municipality β€” bringing this leg of the response to a close on a note of gratitude and hope.

Over the past days, Church Of Uganda , in partnership with ACT Alliance , has walked alongside communities across the Karamoja Sub-region devastated by the prolonged hunger crisis through Southern, Western, Central and Northern Divisions of Kotido Municipality. Thousands of households have received posho, beans, salt, silver fish and soya beans, with special provision made for families with children and cases of malnutrition.

We give God thanks for every hand that made this possible. Our sincere appreciation goes to Archbishop for his leadership and pastoral heart throughout this response, and to the Bishops of North Karamoja and Karamoja Dioceses, Rt Rev Simon Akol Aisu and Rt Rev Michael Chorey, for their tireless coordination on the ground.

We thank ACT Alliance and Country Coordinator Irene Anena for their steadfast partnership.

Special gratitude to the participating Dioceses of Mukono, Kampala, Kigezi, West Buganda, Namirembe, Muhabura, Central Busoga and Soroti, whose generosity made this intervention possible, and to every Christian, institution, and well-wisher who gave β€” in cash, in kind, and in prayer.

As Archbishop Kaziimba reminded us, Christian compassion must be translated into direct, decisive action. We pray this food relief becomes more than a moment of assistance β€” that it becomes a lasting blessing to the families of Karamoja, and a seed for the long-term resilience and restoration our Archbishop has called for.

May God bless Karamoja.
