Our own Jacob Kiplimo has been ruled out of the World Athletics Championship on medical grounds..

Jacob Kiplimo has been ruled out of the World Athletics Championships due for August 19-27 in Budapest-Hungary 🇭🇺. A multiple champion and medal hopeful, Kiplimo was set to run the 10000m & 5000m. He sustained an acute hamstring injury on August 1, Uganda Athletics Federation -UAF. confirms that Kiplimo can only recover in about 4 weeks time.

I know this might upset a few people, especially those that benefit from being around certain athletes. On my recent trip, I visited Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda, Kapchorwa. I hoped to see 2 new track and field tracks . The Teryet High-Altitude Training Centre is fully finished although athletes don't have access to it. Hopefully by the end of 2023 people would have started training there.

May be in a few years we shall see Kipsiro's track in Amanang and Kortek and Cheptegei’s track in Kwoti complete . But as of now, Sebei Sub-region is still waiting for a place where athletes can train. Most are still training on a grass track 👣 found in primary schools.
