Grace Villa, Kabale Grace Villa is a multi faceted home & sanctuary for orphaned, abandoned & at-risk girls - in the hills of Kabale, Uganda. This is what we do

Every child deserves to be protected, educated, fed, healthy & loved. ABOUT GRACE VILLA
Grace Villa is a home and sanctuary committed to creating a safe, healthy, empowering space for orphaned, abandoned, abused and other at-risk girls. Thousands of children have passed through our care. Currently, 30 girls live within our home while the rest are safely situated with families. One of our biggest i

As well as vocational training. Uganda has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in Sub-Saharan Africa, with over 25% registered every year. Uganda ranked as the 9th hotspot of child-marriages in the world. Education can change this. It builds knowledge, opens new opportunities and can help to shift norms around the value of girls in the community. So we work hard to remove barriers to girls' education. We provide school fees, school uniforms, school supplies like pens and books, food, clean water, and medical care. We provide sanitary towels so that girls are not absent from school during their periods. We are actively involved in their school parent-teacher meetings, in after school tutoring, field trips and other activities. We have also established systems to identify warning signs of child abuse, address the risks of child marriage, and we support underage married girls to leave marriages if desired. A POEM BY 10 YEAR OLD TRINA.
(Posted with her permission)

Today, I walked. Not because my legs are strong…
but because my heart is.

I know what it feels like to be afraid.
I know what it feels like to be scared when the sun goes down.
I know what it feels like to wonder if anyone will help.

Then one day, Grace Villa found me.
They held my little hand.
They told me, “You are precious.
You are safe. You can stand.”

But as I walked today, I wasn’t only thinking about me.
I was thinking about the little girls who are still waiting.

So today I choose to walk.
My feet may still be small,
But every little step I take
Says every girl deserves a home.
Every girl deserves to sing.
Every girl deserves to feel the joy that childhood brings.
Please don’t look the other way. Please don’t say, “It’s not my fight.”
Be the person who says, This child deserves what’s right.

I am only ten years old,
But I know one thing is true:
When we protect one little girl,
We help the whole world too.

🇺🇸❤️ Wait… even AMERICA has an Independence Day?! 😄

That was the delightful discovery at Grace Villa this 4th of July! As part of teaching our children about the world, different countries, cultures and histories, we talked about America and the meaning of the Fourth of July. We also talked about how there is some contention amongst some, surrounding the holiday. The children were absolutely intrigued!

There were questions. There was surprise. There was much discussion! And of course, once they understood, they had one very important mission…

To send LOTS OF LOVE across the ocean to all our Grace Villa family and friends in the USA 🇺🇸🌍

Happy belated 4th of July to you all! From our little corner in the beautiful hills of Kigezi, we celebrate with you and continue raising children who are curious about the world, eager to learn, and proud to belong to one big global family.

Our children may never fully know how many doors our Grace Villa Board Treasurer has opened for them through the years, how many difficult conversations he has had on their behalf, or how many problems he has quietly solved behind the scenes. But they are living proof of his impact every day.

And perhaps that is the highest compliment one can give a leader. That long after people forget your speeches, they remember how you made their lives better.

Moved by the ethos of Grace Villa, Sam joined us as a pro bono Project Manager at inception, and poured three years of his life into helping shape the organization we know today. Many people see the success stories now. But the foundation was laid by people like Sam who showed up when the future was uncertain.

This is the gentleman we celebrate today.
Happy birthday Sam!

The “Say Something” workshop.

At Grace Villa, our girls are learning that No is a complete sentence.
No to pressure.
No to fear.
No to weird favors.
No to anything that steals their worth.
Because every girl deserves to know that her voice matters… and how to use it.

This was during our ‘s Women Empowerment workshop, just one of the many powerful moments during our Womens Day celebrations.
